Labour has been handed the Newham mayoralty by vote splitting. Forhad Hussain was elected in the London borough with over 25,000 votes. Mehmood Mirza, of the Newham Independents, received over 20,000 votes and Areeq Chowdhury of the Greens got around 19,000 votes. Had the Greens stood down, Mirza would have most likely won comfortably. But the Greens say their voters preferred a more progressive candidate and they deserved the chance to vote for one.

Now I’ve watched this video several times and I’m struggling to see anything disrespectful going on in it. A game that was played in an excellent spirit throughout and then you come on social media and see this. Sometimes it’s important to win with class which this isn’t.

Several things can lead to the 2026 @FIFAWorldCup being a disaster:
- Firstly, everything is far too expensive
- Secondly, tickets have been scalped to high heaven
- Third, Donald Trump has managed to make travel extremely expensive, with his war in Iran
- Fourth, people don't want to go to a country with terrible infrastructure where they may get arrested or shot because they don't like Trump, Vance, Charlie Kirk, etc.
