If they can convince Burrows to come back to BC that would be a big coup.

Henrik confirms they talked Luongo, Burrows and Manny before taking the Canucks job. Henrik isn't surprised so many people from the 2011 team are becoming coaches/GMs because the leadership group was so strong on that team. (VANcast)

This would have been a savings of close to $2.25m total for Gold alone, assuming RJ took the less than $750k offered to Gold.

Adam Wylde from SDPN reported on the Steve Dangle Podcast that he was told by "multiple sources" that Evan Gold was OFFERED the GM position, but was lowballed "Below the $1M, $750K" range.
He also stated that The Canucks "do not have the same R&D, analytics, and computing systems for prospects and current players as most of the league"
Later on he mentioned how the future buyout of Paolo Aquilini may have affected this.
If this is even REMOTELY close to true, then holy crap man. What a joke.

After exhaustive search @Canucks chose Evan Gold to be next GM & were confident enough to tell reporters that announcement was coming this week.

This shouldn’t be allowed. It’s one thing if the person is still employed by the organization. You fired him, deemed him not good enough — you don’t get to decide who employs him next. Cassidy should be able to walk away from VGK contract so they have no say.
