Mi hijo de 18 años reprobó 3 materias porque se la pasó jugando videojuegos todo el semestre. Mi esposa quería pagarle un profesor privado y 'ayudarlo' para que no perdiera el año, diciendo que 'es solo un adolescente'. Yo hice algo diferente: cancelé el internet de la casa y vendí su PlayStation. Con ese dinero, no pagué un tutor, sino que le compré un equipo de limpieza profesional. Le dije que, si no quería estudiar, entonces ya era un adulto trabajador. Lo obligué a levantarse todos los días a las 5:00 AM para limpiar los vidrios de mi oficina y los baños del taller de un amigo durante todas sus vacaciones. Mi hijo me gritó que me odiaba y que soy un dictador. Mi suegra me dejó de hablar porque dice que estoy 'explotando' a mi propio hijo y que lo voy a traumar de por vida. Ayer, después de un mes de trabajo duro, mi hijo vino a mi habitación llorando. Me dio el dinero que ganó y me pidió que por favor lo inscribiera en las clases de regularización, que ya entendió que prefiere estudiar 10 horas que limpiar baños 8 horas bajo el sol. ¿Soy un padre cruel que le robó su adolescencia, o soy el único que le está enseñando que en la vida real nadie te regala nada si no te esfuerzas?
