Here’s what he had to say about Stribling:
“I liked him quite a bit, to tell you the truth Some people didn’t, and I don’t understand why, because he’s got size, he’s got speed, he’s got good ball skills. And he made plays. I don’t understand why they’re questioning the pick. I’d take Stribling in a heartbeat over Cooper, because Stribling can run. Cooper is not a speed player at all. He’s like Deebo Samuel — just bulk up a little and do the dirty work. Stribling can do either/or. He can go outside and go vertical. You better hold on, because he can run.”

Obsession with consensus board is often media's way of trying to stay relevant during the guessing game of April. Clicks would crater if there's demonstrated to be a huge disconnect between what's published and what teams actually do. Therefore, the teams that break "consensus" will be shamed... most often through poor draft grades for players who haven't taken a single snap.
It's subjectivity layered on top of subjectivity

The consensus board conversation is interesting. When I was scouting we never once looked at what media’s rankings were or cross referenced them with ours. Not saying right or wrong. But a team makes their board with much more than film. Character, medical, and scheme fit help shape the board which can’t necessarily be said for the media consensus board.

All told, the 49ers selected 8 players and reached a whopping total 430 spots for those picks. They took what should've been a solid class of the top 30-150 players and walked away with the equivalent 3 3rd round picks, 1 late 4th, 1 late 5th, 1 6th and 2 UDFAs.
This has to be unheard in recent draft history. @SharpFootball can you confirm?

I wish it was only as simple as removing Lynch. These problems go far deeper. Case in point: the 49ers worst reaches are at RB and WR where Kyle + Bobby T have outsized voices. And their inability to pull the trigger on any competent OLs is strictly a function of Foester's influence. The coaches' role in the draft process needs to be examined...

George Kittle talks about the draft process and how he thought he was going to be drafted by the Seahawks:
“I had 1 phone call at the end of the 4th round. My agent called me and said the Seahawks were looking to draft me with the 3rd pick and then literally my agent was on the phone with Seattle when the Niners called me to draft me with the 2nd pick of the 5th round. I thought I was gonna go to Seattle and then I ended up going to the San Francisco 49ers.”
