Jalen Hurts v Brock Purdy: Jalen Hurts once again enters this weeks game as the better quarterback and the #Eagles once again have the advantage at the most important position There are a few major differences between Hurts and Brock Purdy right now — Hurts is a far better runner, Hurts is better creating something out of nothing and Hurts is further along in his development as he has far more experience This season Hurts has ran for 49 1st downs, compared to just 12 for Purdy. When the play goes off script, which a good portion do in the NFL, Hurts is the better QB to have by a mile. (Hurts also has more passing 1st downs, 123 v 113). That’s a huge advantage for the Eagles. As the season has gone on Hurts has shown an ability to pick apart defenses before the snap, adjusting the play at the line of scrimmage. That comes with experience and seeing all kinds of defenses. He’s ahead of Purdy in this department as well. As passers they are similar, as both have shown they can move their team up-and-down the field from the pocket. They are also both smart with the football, they are both accurate and both make big plays with their arm Going into the season I was not very high on Purdy, but there is no question he deserves lots of credit going into the game. A lot of the excuses people use to diminish what he has done (talent around him, coaching staff, etc) are the same excuses people used last year to diminish what Hurts has done. Those excuses are unfair. Bottom line is teams are almost always as good as their QB, and Purdy deserves a ton of credit for what he has done this year — just not as much as Hurts.
