The president cannot unilaterally withdraw from NATO. He's a term-limited lame duck. It's not happening. But if Europe wants NATO to remain an important & active alliance, they should stop acting like they're not our allies. Allowing overflight is the absolute least they can do.

I refuse to believe you guys don't see the problem here. It's one thing for the Europeans not to provide direct support for the operation. It's another for France to deny the use of its airspace for cargo deliveries or for the UK to muddle over domestic base usage. There is no point in being in an alliance that can't provide such basic guarantees of cooperation.

US lent it's power anyways. However, Iran is threatening the energy security of the entire world - very much a NATO issue. So, why the reluctance to even provide logistic support?

This is under the assumption that if Iran were not stopped, it would pose a threat to the greater security of the US & NATO allies by proxy. The only reasonable conclusion is military weakness

Likewise, NATO countries supported the US logistically during the Iraq war. Not under the guise of NATO, but bc of Alliances

Why wait until the snake bites when you can behead it first? This is primarily why the EU lacks defense and needs NATO

What this did was drive home the choice Washington is facing. Take extreme steps to regain hegemony or pack it up and turn isolationist. Europeans gleefully think the former isn’t possible and China is too valuable economically without realizing they are implicitly moving America towards the second option instead. You don’t realize how ambivalent Americans are towards if Europe turns into a fractured dumpster fire with Russia, China and Turkey picking off the pieces. We legitimately don’t care about you and a handful of jetsetting elites somehow convinced you that we do. If you think Trump was bad just wait until you get a Vance or worse. It’s coming. Bessent is litterally your only hope. And you hate him for it.
