Will DeBerg is a “Piv’s Pal.” Will and I were assistants together at the University of St. Thomas, and he brought the same energy and leadership to coaching that he did as a player. A 2013 St. Thomas grad with a degree in Business, Will played four seasons for the Tommies. He was a key part of the 2011 national championship team, and as a senior captain in 2013, led the squad to a No. 1 national ranking and a trip to the Division III Final Four. Will led the team in scoring in both 2012 and 2013, finishing his career with 904 points. Honors? Oh yeah — All-MIAC, All-West Region, and All-Final Four. We caught up over a classic breakfast at the iconic Ideal Diner in Northeast Minneapolis with Will and his dad, Craig DeBerg.
