Ok. So I made a cast of the clay bear impression. The dental stone released so well from the clay I can reuse it. Check out the dental stone vs the clay after I took the cast off. Notice the smoothness of the cast with almost zero bubbles. 🙂

I got the pleasure of continuing my bear paw pad research today. Thank you Bear Hollow Zoo in Athens-Clarke County,GA. "Nona", a 15 year old was getting her yearly checks, and a few other checks due to her age. Anyway, here's a taste. #blackbear #bears

Listening to Epi.139 of “UFO Chronicles Podcast”, featuring @ClellandMike, which insightfully covered the subject of owls and their esoteric connections to occult mysticism as well as UFOs and aliens, I was reminded of a bizarre occurrence of my youth involving owls. Being an avid outdoorsman, I was in the woods literally day and night. This one particular night, I along with two friends were deep in the woods coon hunting when we heard an owl hooting in the distance. One of my companions began to “hoot” back at it for fun while our dog was doing his work lower on the hill below us. Then, a few moments later there were loud and aggressive “hoots” and other "calls" in the trees surrounding us. There were at least three different “owls” in different directions, very close and very excited. Needless to say, none of us continued with our “owl” taunts, and I admit I was very unnerved and I think it’s safe to say my friends were as well. This went on for 15-20 minutes and although we all had powerful lights, not a bird could be seen but they were close by. We decided to move on down to the valley below and leave whatever we had started to work itself out without our participation. Now, I’m no owl expert, so I can’t say if we inadvertently started an owl “turf” dispute or what, but as I’ve said I was in the woods at all hours and all seasons, and often returned calls both vocally and with manufactured calls. However, I have never experienced anything like that before or sense.

Beside the "who cooks for you" of the Barred Owl, they also make some other crazy sounds. Some sound eerily close to monkey chatter, other sound like screams. Especially from a distance. I was lucky enough to get some of this at the Land Between the Lakes this past weekend.

Found Steven eating a mushroom in the yard today. Dogs are finally learning his name too. #boxturtle
