🚨 Mario is giving only half the story on Tesla and India. 🇮🇳 The bigger reason Tesla walked away from a factory is simple 👇🏻 INDIANS ARE NOT BUYING Teslas in meaningful numbers. Tesla started importing Model Ys and opened showrooms in mid-2025. Sales so far? • Just ~225 cars in full-year 2025 • & around 340 total by early 2026 • Many months see only 20-80 units sold. Meanwhile, India sold over 200,000 electric passenger vehicles in the same period. Tata, Mahindra and local brands dominate because they offer affordable cars for Indian roads and pockets. A ₹60 lakh+ Tesla is simply too expensive for most buyers here. Weak demand is why a $500 million factory never made sense, especially with Tesla’s existing plants running at about 60% capacity. The full picture shows low market pull is the real story.
