Honored to welcome mi amigo @SantiPenap of Paraguay back to Taiwan. I've always been impressed by his action-oriented diligence & passion for serving the people of Paraguay. & So thankful for his principled partnership with Taiwan.

Upon arriving in #Eswatini, we began a full program of engagements, including a bilateral meeting with His Majesty King Mswati III & the signing of a joint communiqué. From cultivating crops to enhanced trade, our cooperation continues to highlight #Taiwan's global contributions.

Shocked and gravely concerned to hear about the gunshots fired at the White House Correspondents’ Gala. We are relieved to hear that President Trump and other attendees remain safe from physical harm and we strongly condemn any form of political violence.

I thank IPAC & many friends who have supported Taiwan's freedom to engage with other members of the international community. We need to reject China's expanding toolbox of coercion aimed at suppressing & isolating Taiwan.

Though Dr. Lindgren is the first Taiwan born astronaut, I am sure there will be many more to come. Look forward to his tour here talking to students & public, inspiring the next generation of scientists & space enthusiasts.

Today is the 47th anniversary of the Taiwan Relations Act. It has for almost five decades ensured Taiwan’s security and bolstered U.S. interests in the Indo-Pacific. The TRA still stands today as a bulwark against Chinese Communist Party aggression.

Exactly 30 years ago Taiwan held our first presidential elections. Since then & although imperfect, our young democracy has thrived and matured, but we are constantly reminded that freedom cannot be taken for granted, it has to be cherished and protected.
