Statement from LGB International welcoming Botswana's repeal of anti-homosexuality laws. We are delighted to congratulate the people of Botswana now that the law criminalising homosexuality has been removed. We agree with Botswana's Attorney General, Dick Bayford, that "criminalising consensual same-sex activity violated constitutional rights to dignity, liberty, privacy and equality." This formalises the law in line with the 2019 High Court ruling. We call on other sub-Saharan African political leaders to follow Botswana's example. They should not drive up anti-gay sentiment to distract from their failings and hold onto power. Frederick Schminke, Chair of LGB International said: "Adults of the same sex must be free to love one another everywhere without being criminalised. Laws that punish homosexuality should be left in the colonial era." citizen.co.za/news/botswana-…

@BillEast8 @vanbosic @maiamindel A small, fringe minority fraught with elevated rates of self-harm that actively seeks to control language by threat of force is definitionally a "threat" to society. Thanks for playing, better luck next time.

This ruling has effectively hung Kathleen Stock out to dry and given the green light to trans activists to hound those they disagree with off campus. Far too many academics have been driven from their jobs, abandoned by colleagues, and subjected to vile abuse for holding and expressing lawful views. This judgment effectively renders the Higher Education (Freedom of Speech) Act (Hefsa) toothless. Universities must do more than pay lip service to the free speech duties set out in the Act. The Free Speech Union sincerely hopes that the Office for Students appeals. If it does, we hope to intervene. Read more below 👇

Stop The Bollocks with Mirabel
The police force which turned a blind eye to having a rapist in their ranks are attempting to gaslight the British public into thinking it is reasonable to repeatedly kick an offender in the head as a method of restraint while there is zero direct threat at that moment
Metropolitan Police@metpoliceuk

Our brave officers confronted a man they believed to be a terrorist, who refused to show his hands, who was violent, and who continued to pose a clear threat. Using only their training, courage and tasers, they detained him while he continued to try to attack and stab them. This took true courage.

The City of London recommends no women only pond on Hampstead Heath. Blatant disregard for the 2010 Equality Act & Supreme Court clarification that female/women provisions refer to biological sex. The misogyny of the City of London in plain sight. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

@NotFarLeftAtAll Gay couples should have no choice in the matter. They shouldn't be allowed to have a child through surrogacy, adopt or foster. It is part and parcel of being a gay couple, you simply cannot have children. End of.

The couple who are fighting to legally become the parents of their surrogate baby After welcoming their beautiful baby girl Leven, via surrogacy, back in January, the couple are now facing a lengthy court battle to be recognised as Leven’s legal parents - as under UK law, Leven’s surrogate is still recognised as her mother. As they launch a government petition to change the law on same-sex couples and surrogacy, Adam and Jamie tell us why they are determined to keep fighting for their daughter. Should the law be changed?

@BillEast8 @cathydevine56 Trans people have the same protections as everyone else. They have additional protections under the protected characteristic of gender reassignment. We only have single sex exceptions where it is proportionate/ legitimate bc biological sex is a protected characteristic as well

@Shilisad1 @cathydevine56 You can't really have different rights for different people. The law treats all equally. You are speaking as if you don't see trans people as people, which is rather scary. Would you rather trans people disappear somehow?

@BillEast8 @cathydevine56 You are trying to conflate two issues. Women’s rights have nothing to do with men who are trans identified unless of course men with gender reassignment are trying to remove women’s rights. Women are simply concerned with protecting single sex spaces. Trans ppl have trans rights

I'm not sure you understand the issue. Nothing is wrong with 'sex absolutism'. I know men can't be women. So does Rowling. What I'm trying to get across is that it's incredibly obnoxious and self-defeating to ex-communicate someone like Rowling for what she *decides* to say in the privacy of her own home. Something she doesn't tell others that must do. To outsiders looking in, it makes the movement look utterly dogmatic and fundamentalist. Like a religion. And I'd like to suggest that's bad. It's like casting Dawkins out of the atheist movement because he said "bless you" to a friend that sneezed.

Tell me what is wrong with sex absolutism? sex is immutable & fawn response is an issue worthy of debate, insisting on personal exeptions because of emotional bonds won't keep men out of single-sex spaces now will it?

@BillEast8 @Shilisad1 @cathydevine56 It’s not something you can possibly disagree about. It’s a biological fact combined with the opinions of real women. Your personal opinion is not relevant.
