Thanks for all the responses! Whether you agree or don’t agree with my post I appreciate everyone’s feedback! I don’t get on these things very often and I hate to be the guy that only does it when he gets mad… So let me wrap this up with some positives. This was my second trip to Maui and my 6th to the Islands overall. We did have an incredible trip (before trying to get home) and yes we did finally make it home😁. We were privileged to spend time in what I personally consider one of the most incredible places in the world. My family got to experience things that many never get to see live and for that we are forever grateful! If you have never been to the islands I would encourage you to check them out. Sometimes these trips take a good bit of research, planning and saving but it’s worth it and there are many sites or Facebook groups to help you plan. I would like to give a final “Shout out” to the people at Shaka Guide. This app was recommended to us by some friends that recently used it. It is an automated tour guide app that works through your phone. My family loved it and it was super helpful when we drove the Road to Hana. Hi Steve, Thanks for the informed response instead of calling me childish. Unfortunately what you looked up is just ONE of many DIFFERENT reasons that they gave me and many other passengers. Unfortunately I have been down this road with them more than once. Regardless of the reason they still avoided the opportunity to get someone to the gate and help the stranded passengers. Being stranded at the airport anywhere is not fun for any family. Thanks

@BillGreenwaldTX 1. Looks like your flight was the direct 777 to DFW on Wednesday 7hrs due to the inbound aircraft arriving late from DFW. There are limited AA flights out of Maui, and that is the only widebody. There are two A-321’s to LAX and one to PHX. It’s summer and flights are full.

American Airlines Fails Again! American Airlines is the worst airline! Once again American Airlines has disrupted our vacation travel with no effort to take care of us. Our flight leaving Maui has been delayed multiple times that has now put the flight 7 1/2 hours past its scheduled takeoff. POOR communication with no help to get us on another flight. Of course there are many other families being hurt in addition to us. No gate agents to help! No proactive help to re book! We along with other families have now rescheduled on other flights connecting in other cities to get home and many of us have minors flying that we can't even get seats next to them. Some families have even moved to competing airlines to just get their families home. Over my business career and personal travel I have flown just shy of 900,000 miles on American and can't believe how bad they have become. If this was due to weather it would be a little more understandable but it is due to maintenance, THEIR FAULT and they are still not proactively helping any of their customers. I will now fly any other airline I can fly even when it requires connecting flights to avoid flying again with American Airlines! I would appreciate any of my friends that will repost this just to make sure they hear from more than just me. DON'T fly American Airlines!!! @AmericanAir

I have flown that much over time but no longer fly as much so I am just Gold. This is NOT a maintenance issue it was their game of not having enough passengers so they use maintenance as an issue to not fly the plane. Childish is you making a remark about something g you know nothing about! Go away

If you have flown 900,000 miles, this would not be surprising to you and should have at least executive platinum, which should allow you access to priority seating. Complaining about a maintenance issue and blaming them is childish. Would you rather they ignore it and fly an unsafe airplane so you can all sit together and get home 'on time'?
