I was glued. Immediately loved it. Never missed an episode & have them all on DVD. Trevor Eve was so good as Eddie & as a West Country lad I loved recognising familiar places. So successful was it Radio Avonside (the IBA contractor) changed their name to Radio West before launch.

@carlosradioguy Yes, not too far from Tiverton (place called Stoodleigh). My family connection was Crediton for a bit, but mostly brought up in London (raised on Capital) but am sure ‘Radio West’ stuck in my mind when it came to thinking about a job 🤣

@carlosradioguy Trevor Eve was busier… the actors playing head master and his wife were v friendly, I think they were there 3 days, we had to be there over a weekend. I drove past few years back and the house is sort of derelict

@carlosradioguy Coincidentally Pippa Sparks who I worked with years later at GLR (she was travel presenter) played a regular role in the radio station… maybe a studio producer?

@carlosradioguy @itsMrCross I got Gerry Rafferty on the radio other day as I was waiting at traffic lights on Baker Street (a great moment). When I play Vaughan Williams Tallis Fantasia @ClassicFM it always sounds like it’s about to fade into C/Cross Sailing ⛵️
