@stogachess @monthly Depends the reasons of a Maine loss. If there is not enough of a Blue Wave to flip Maine, then there will be no flips anywhere else. If there is a Blue Wave big enough to flip AK, OH and NC, Ds could lose Maine on bad candidate quality and miss out on Senate control.

@billscher @monthly what are odds Dems flip 3 other Senate seats (e.g. AK, OH, NC) but not ME? IMO, low. So it's hard for me to worry about ME, because if we lose ME weren't going to flip the Senate anyway.

We need a Discourse Cycle about how Democratic recruiters aren't seeking actual working class people, but the child of wealthy people who have reinvented themselves as working class people. We could use some discussion on why this is happening x.com/lxeagle17/stat…

Four points on Maine: 1) Mills is a very poor candidate. 2) Platner could beat Collins. 3) Platner is a very risky gamble. 4) Platner is doing best with upscale Dems, rather than non-college Dems — not what you'd expect from a "working-class whisperer" theargumentmag.com/p/is-graham-pl…

Democrats have flipped 30 state legislative seats since Trump was sworn in. GOP 0. Such a streak has not happened in at least 15 years & state leg special election trends do predict midterm election outcomes More in my @monthly latest washingtonmonthly.com/2026/03/27/sta…

Let's all say it together kids: Special Election Results are not indicative of general election results. It's going to be a bad year for the GOP, yes, but please, political writers, I'm begging you, stop overinflating the larger implications of these special results.

@neeratanden As far as I can tell Alex Holladay went completely dark on social media after his losing November campaign and didn’t even bother to update his campaign website for the special
