@TeamYouTube Ah, sorry for the confusion. My frustration is with how I was notified. I wouldn’t be surprised if someone I played with in that video said something that violated the current policy. I was frustrated that I found out through a strike on a video uploaded many years ago.

@nearcyan To be fair… I’m not saying this isn’t a lot of money. But the way a lot of people’s emotions are showing in these comments is telling. The key part is “tc” AKA “total compensation”. Go look at the salary data for google over at levels.fyi and you’ll see for yourself

@nearcyan The problem with this tweet is people will see 500k but miss the “tc” part. This position at google is likely an L6. In reality, the amount of knowledge and experience you need to have for that level is a lot AND your paycheck is ~$13k/month before sales tax in HCOL.

@TheWall314 @DougPolkVids To add to my point on “hourly” rate comparison… If you’re on salary making $120k then that’s an hourly rate of around $57/hr. The winner of the colossus tournament this year made an hourly rate of over $16,000/hour. I know that’s 1st place but even 53rd place would be $320/hr.

I should also mention comparing a prize from a poker tournament to a salary isn’t realistic. Break down the hourly rate and then compare.

My only real issue with the WSOP payouts is paying 15% of the field. It should be more like 12%. But most of the arguments/complaints seem nonsensical to me. Yes, first place is a lot of money. That's OK. Your goal should be to win the tournament.
