Bingus, remember me, always, whatever you do in life will be insignificant, but it's very important that you do it, 'cause nobody else will

@collectdotrip “Supply can’t meet demand” because retarded rip n shippers, investor groups, and gambling sites keep botting and pumping everything, which obviously is something you all would know about

"I only pay MSRP" Ok enjoy missing out on the best set to come out in the last 5 years. The Pokemon company supply cannot meet demand. Simple economics. You are not owed anything.

The number of sealed boxes will continue to drop forever. The number of slabs will continue to rise forever. There is a theoretical bottom and top but without knowing the number of units in the wild, we can never know what it is. Sealed is deflationary Slabs are inflationary If you're an investor, sealed is the way!

Reminder that even if you don’t have any desire to collect the cards from a set… the sealed product is always a good investment to keep. 📈📈📈

TLDR: Buy. Vintage. Pokémon. What’s stopping you from going all-in on vintage Pokémon? If you want a roadmap, just look at what happened with vintage sports cards. In baseball, the most valuable cards today all share the same traits: they feature iconic players, they’re scarce, they’re old, and they’re in great condition. Time did the filtering. Between roughly 1920 and 1950, there were about 5,000 Major League Baseball players. Yet only a few hundred of those players matter to collectors today, and an even smaller subset command real, enduring value. Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle, Ted Williams — history didn’t reward everyone equally. It concentrated value into the most recognizable, culturally permanent figures. That’s how collectibles mature. Now compare that to Pokémon. There are only about 1,000 Pokémon total, and only the first ~100–150 are more than 20 years old. That’s an incredibly small universe. Pokémon vintage isn’t just old — it’s already pre-filtered. The characters are globally recognized, culturally locked, and endlessly reused across games, shows, and merchandise. Unlike athletes, they never retire, never decline, never age out of relevance. Their popularity doesn’t depend on performance, health, or personal decisions. They simply exist — and they compound nostalgia every generation. Modern collecting is exciting, but it comes with hidden risk. Modern sports cards are bets on human beings. Careers get derailed by injuries. Legacies get damaged by scandals. Some stars burn bright for a few years and disappear entirely. You can do everything right as a collector and still lose because the underlying asset collapses. That’s not speculation — that’s fragility. Pokémon eliminates that risk completely. Charizard doesn’t tear an ACL. Pikachu doesn’t get suspended. Blastoise doesn’t ruin its legacy. The characters are static, immortal, and universally recognized. Vintage Pokémon combines the same scarcity mechanics that made vintage sports cards legendary, but without the downside of human unpredictability. Fixed supply. Shrinking availability. Growing nostalgia. Global demand. A tiny character pool. Over time, value doesn’t spread evenly — it concentrates. It always has. Modern is fun, liquid, and exciting. But vintage is where inevitability lives. If history is any guide, time will not be kind to everything — only to what was iconic from the start.
