Congratulations to @TVKVijayHQ for a stunning debut in an election that has led to a sea change in the political landscape in Tamilnadu. A state dominated by two dravidian parties for over half a century will now have its first non dravidian government in power. I hope he does his best to deliver on the promises he and his party have made to the people of Tamilnadu. A word of appreciation for all the workers in DMK,INC and other members of the secular progressive alliance that did their best to compete in an election which had a palpable anti-incumbency wave. There were differences going into the election but in most places those were set aside and the alliance worked in unison. Congratulations to all who won and commiserations to all who didnt. This election is also transformational for Tamilnadu as it has destroyed the traditional formula of winning - a. Vote for money - People took money from everywhere but voted for who they wanted to. b. Vote for organisation - People dont need an organisation to convince them to vote for someone nor do they need to be pulled out of their homes to come and vote for someone they truly desire. c. Vote for a known local face - People dont care who is the local candidate if they feel strongly enough about who they want to vote for as a CM. d. Vote for caste - Vijay has cut across caste, class, urban/rural and everything in between to show that caste does not decide who wins and who loses in Tamilnadu The Congress party has to rethink its role in Tamilnadu. We have been climbing a borrowed ladder / riding on someone else's shoulders for far too long and have paid the price. We must rebuild and the local body elections that is less than 9 months away is a great opportunity to start. Let us make sure that we dont go down in history as the party that never misses an opportunity to miss an opportunity.
