@EchoBravo1947 @Polymarket Close but you didn't really think about it hard enough. The vast vast majority of taxpayer money comes from NYC anyhow, so they are more or less appropriating the tax dollars equitably. If anything NYC has been subsidizing the rest of NY for far too long.

@Polymarket Most of the hole was filled by someone else’s money. Roughly $8 billion from Albany is load-bearing piece. That’s not structural fix.. and it depends on a state budget that itself has to balance, which means upstate and suburban taxpayers are effectively subsidizing NYC.

@beans120 @greendragonhq Seems like you don't understand how welfare reliance works. California is not the top of the reliance list. It's not even that close at #19. Due to reliance being measured by the proportion of the population on welfare, it comes in only at %13. Proportionally they are average.

Dems were trying to add policy riders to current ICE funding. Something they bitch about when Republicans did this in the past. That should be debated separately. They didn’t get any through. Pelosi when Republicans tried the same thing in the past. “We should not be attaching extraneous policy riders to appropriations bills.”
