Sharing on behalf of Paul Twose and Associate Professor Amy Freeman-Sanderson: We are partnering with the James Lind Alliance (JLA) to identify the top research priorities about communication and swallowing difficulties after critical illness. We want to hear from people with lived experience, family members, carers, and health professionals who work in intensive care, rehabilitation, or related areas following admission to an adult intensive care unit. If you have a question you would like an answer to, we want to hear it. Your views will help shape future research and ensure it focuses on the questions about communication and swallowing difficulties with critical illness. We want to hear about what matters most to you and those affected. It only takes about 10 minutes to complete, and every response counts. Who can take part? People who have been critically unwell in an adult ICU and experienced communication or swallowing difficulty during or after their hospital admission Family members, carers or supporters of people who have been critically unwell in an adult ICU and experienced communication or swallowing difficulty during or after their hospital admission Health and social care professionals with experience with or providing care for critically unwell adults who experienced communication or swallowing difficulty during or after their hospital admission Survey Our survey is available in 10 different languages (English, Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Hindi, Japanese, Portuguese, Spanish, and Russian). TEXTURE MODIFIED SMOOTH BREAD Based on the bread, water, and SmoothBread powder, you can produce an authentic, consistency-defined bread that is very close to the original in appearance and taste. Thanks to its soft structure, it can be spread on immediately after it has cooled down and is so firm that those affected can eat it either as finger food or with a knife and fork. It is important to note that the finished product can be eaten without chewing which makes swallowing easier. ​The finished bread is characterised by a protein content that is up to 30% higher than conventional bread and can therefore make an important contribution to combatting malnutrition among those affected. youtu.be/NzEInPBRWH8
