@deb_greco and I are on our way to our new home in Stone Mountain, GA after the 53rd PCA General Assembly. I am honored to have been chosen to be the sixth Stated Clerk of the PCA. As I said on Tuesday evening, I intend to serve the denomination and help our churches, elders, and presbyteries to navigate difficulties of church government. I hope to visit every presbytery over the next few years. We are sad to have left our beloved @CCKPCA, but are ready to answer God’s call to this new work. Please pray for me, that I would have humility, wisdom, and energy in this new calling. I love the PCA!

@fredgreco @cstover89 Further, I believe the rationale is that members of the OC have adequate opportunity during the committee meeting to have input as debate there is only constrained by the will of the body. Therefore other members of the Assembly should have priority.

@cstover89 I believe it is a compromise because OC has a great deal of influence with items at GA. Overtures cannot be amended on the floor (that was possible before) so the floor really only has the power of debate. Also, by majority vote, an OC member may speak on the floor

@LigonDuncan @FPCJxnMS Yes, indeed, they are giants and legends.I am thankful for each and for their impacts on me and my family. May the Lord continue to richly bless them.

Two giants and legends. Brister Ware & Bill Wymond. Brister grew up at @FPCJxnMS, and was ordained in 1961. Served at First Pres. from 1983-2023. 40 years of a 62 year ministry. Bill joined the staff of FPCJ in 1963, and served until today. He was ordained in 1970, & spent about 55 years of a 61 year ministry here.

@LigonDuncan @FPCJxnMS @BelhavenU @RTSJackson Truly a good and faithful servant, Bill is highly skilled, most compassionate, and unassuming. His is an example worth following. Thank you, Bill, for blessing me and so many others.

For the better part of 60 years, Bill Wymond has been a big part of the life of @FPCJxnMS. He started working with the music program when he was a student at @BelhavenU in the early to mid ‘60s. He studied at @RTSJackson (‘70) & joined the pastoral staff of First Pres. that summer. Except for short stints at @IPCmemphis & @IPCSAV, he has been at First Pres. Jackson for six decades. He has served under five senior ministers in that time: John Reed Miller, Don Patterson, Jim Baird, yours truly, & now @DavidTAStrain. He has been a constant in the life of the congregation, and has blessed the lives of thousands. He is retiring at the end of this month, at the age of 82 (he looks 30 years younger than that, and is far better shape than I am!). I’m so thankful for him. I’m also thankful that he will continue to play for chapel for @ReformTheoSem.
