The global ecumenical project Equipping Christian Leadership in an Age of Science (ECLAS) has partnered with the Anglican Communion Office (ACO) to support and enrich the work of the Anglican Communion Science Commission (ACSC). The Revd Dr Muthuraj Swamy, Director of the Cambridge Centre for Christianity Worldwide, has been appointed as ECLAS Theological Facilitator and Researcher within the ACO. He will explore how ECLAS research, projects and resources can support the ACSC and help Anglican churches in their engagement with science and faith. David Wilkinson said: “This is an exciting partnership for ECLAS with the Anglican Communion in supporting the wonderful initiative of the ACSC. In Dr Swamy we have the ideal person to bring theological depth and passion to engage with the big questions of science."

May the #Jubilee2025 be for Christians and non-Christians alike an opportunity to rethink the relationships that bind us as human beings and political communities. Let us overcome the logic of confrontation and embrace the logic of encounter, in order to build a future of peace.

“The Anglican Communion Science Commission is important because it helps us to unravel ways in which faith and science can work together and how science can help interpret difficult issues.” - Professor Esther Mombo In August 2023, Anglican bishops, scientists, and theological educators gathered in Kenya for a workshop to explore 'Science and Faith for Enriching Human Life' - the goal was to discuss how faith and science communities can collaborate to understand the world and address global needs. ✝️ How is the Anglican Communion working with the science and technology communities to make a difference in the world? Policy work done by the Anglican Consultative Council’s COP26 Working Group prioritises the voice and experience of indigenous people, women, and youth as the demographics disproportionately affected by climate change. Young people across the Anglican Communion are also taking the lead on a number of science-informed projects to combat climate change, such as developing seedling nurseries and vegetable gardens; taking action on plastic waste; and raising awareness of the impacts of climate change. “Science is a God-given resource for progress and for helping us find the solutions for humility. What we are called to do like in all fields is to ensure that science is used for good.” In this short video, @ArchbishopThabo reflects on the impact science is having on churches in his community, and how the work of the Anglican Communion has the potential to bring together ministries that would otherwise be parallel. Discover more about the ‘Science and Faith’ theme here: bit.ly/3Wa2Sxs This film was made in the lead up to the Lambeth Conference in 2022.
