I am a happy customer of Mullvad (there are other good VPN companies too but Mullvad is top notch). I use it to keep my family safe. The very idea that the UK government is harassing the good guys and demonizing internet security is mad. UK Labour party? I'm looking at you. You know me. You know how to talk to me. Get real about Internet policy.

Cryptocurrency donations pose an unnecessary and unacceptably high risk to the integrity of UK political finance. We also need tighter rules on overseas donors; a new national police unit to oversee political finance; and tougher criminal liability. 🧵 1/2

The UK government is pushing digital ID again despite nearly 3 million people opposing it and a four hour parliamentary debate that raised overwhelming cross party concern about this dystopian technology. Linking identity to payments creates the infrastructure for unprecedented financial surveillance and control. Watch this clip where Freddie warns: “If the government decides to suspend your digital ID and that becomes the gateway to services and payments, you are effectively unpersoned.” Please take a few minutes to submit a response. Consultation: gov.uk/government/con… Full document: gov.uk/government/con… Closes at 12:30pm on 5 May 2026. @FreddieNew @BitcoinPolicyUK @BigBrotherWatch @NO2ID @KemiBadenoch @DarrenPJones

The UK government says Digital ID will be about convenience. But convenience can hide something much bigger. In our consultation response, @freddienew, Chief Policy Officer at Bitcoin Policy UK, warns the proposed system could become: “one of the most significant expansions of state surveillance infrastructure in modern British history.” A system linking: • biometric data • identity verification • employment checks • public services raises serious questions about privacy, security and civil liberties. Before asking how to build digital ID, policymakers should ask a more fundamental question: Should it be built at all? Read the full analysis here: bitcoinpolicy.uk/blog-1/f/digit… @DecentraSuze

NEW: Victims of 🇨🇳Chinese national Zhimin Qian’s ponzi scheme are asking the 🇬🇧U.K. High Court to reject a government compensation plan for 61,000 Bitcoin seized in 2018, now worth around £3.2 billion. Represented by Candey, 5,700 victims argue the proposed scheme could deny them gains from BTC’s price rise, while the U.K. court process offers fairer recompensation.

Nearly three million of us already gave a consultation response to Digital IDs. We said 'NO'. Now they're trying again. And so must we. Link to the consultation below, and how to respond. You know what to do!

Digital ID consultation launched by govt a few hours ago Go get em. Closes 5th May 2026 gov.uk/government/con… This is the full consultation document. I am going to read every word and then do a write up. It will take me time to do this. I also suggest everyone reads it if they can, as it will give us key info on what is hidden within the wording and key areas to look out for by what they are NOT saying gov.uk/government/con… Post from t.me/lawyersoflight

The response to the #ABC26 announcement has been overwhelming. Africa’s Bitcoin movement is growing stronger every year, and the energy from the community reminds us why this work matters. Now it’s time for Southern Africa. Blantyre, Malawi 🇲🇼 let’s make history. #Bitcoin #ABC26 #Africa

Antidote is building the home for Bitcoin entrepreneurs in London and the UK. This week our partner Antidote hosted the latest Women of Bitcoin Meetup, bringing together the Bitcoin community and a live Mining panel as part of its Virtual Summit. The panel was chaired by our CEO, Susie Violet Ward, who moderated a discussion with industry experts. Launched in 2025 with £2.5M in backing, Antidote is London’s first startup hub dedicated entirely to Bitcoin founders, providing workspace, mentorship and investor access to help early stage companies grow. Their first accelerator cohort was also announced this week, with startups working across privacy, AI and payments built on Bitcoin. Antidote shows how the UK ecosystem is growing: more founders, more collaboration, and more opportunities to build.
