PART ONE Let me tell you about an 8th grade boys basketball team. First, the school, it’s a great school but primarily focuses on academics. It’s not in a unified district. District only has elementary/middle schools in it. Never realized how big a difference this would make. 1

Time to Geaux! A group of spring breakers was evicted first thing this morning from a home in a private community in Miramar Beach. Most attend LSU in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Just before 3 a.m., a security guard called to report what looked like someone throwing glass bottles from a balcony on Wadleigh Way. One nearly hit him as he was making rounds doing security checks. When @WCSOFL deputies arrived, they immediately noticed the roadway and driveway were covered with broken glass and empty alcoholic beverages. A 19-year-old was arrested after deputies called everyone out of the home who admitted to throwing the bottles from the balcony. Taking one for his Tiger team. No one inside was 21. The adult who rented the home was the mother of one of the teens staying at the house. Over the past several years, the Walton County Sheriff's Office has been working with property management companies to identify individuals in rentals who turn into problem houses during Spring Break. Whether it be by destroying property, house parties, noise complaints, and so on. The property management companies can then make a decision to evict. In this case, they did. When @WCSOFL deputies arrived on Hollywood Street, they found the inside of the home trashed with beer cans and liquor bottles everywhere. By the time everything was cleaned up, it filled more than five garbage cans. George Goldston, 19, an Ole Miss student, was arrested for open house party and minor in possession of alcohol. No one inside the home was 21, and the person who rented the property wasn’t present. For the past several years, the Walton County Sheriff’s Office has worked closely with property management companies to identify rentals where renters turn into Rebels during Spring Break. Whether it’s loud parties, property damage, or dangerous behavior, evictions will leave you heading back to the Sip without your deposit and no refund. So here’s your friendly reminder: There’s no Hotty Toddy in a jail lobby.

HOOK 'EM.... up. Texas is on the board, folks. Just after midnight Monday, @WCSOFL responded to a noise complaint on Los Angeles Street in Miramar Beach. When deputies got to the house and announced themselves, people began flooding out of the residence like someone had unlatched Bevo's gate after taking a selfie. Those inside said that the 19-year-old who rented the home was "down the street". However, four admitted they had contributed money toward renting the house. Walter Bristol, 19, of Abbott, Texas, Brayden Flemming, 18, of Austin, Texas, Justin Teall, 19, of Spring, Texas, and Milam Olson, 19, of Dallas, Texas, were all arrested and charged with open house party. Olson was also charged with having a fake ID. They were all transported and booked into the Walton County Jail, more than 44 miles away in DeFuniak Springs. Mess with the bull, get the horns.

If you're getting a little deja vu, it's because less than a week ago, this property management company had a tiger by the tail with this address. Yep. This is the same location LSU was told to vacate just a few short days ago. The message we're trying to send is simple: if you're coming to Walton County expecting to negatively impact the quality of life for residents, you will be dealt with accordingly. That may or may not include an eviction, an arrest, or both. Property management companies are cracking down. "lEt tHeM bE kIdS yOu pArTy pOoPeRs..." 🙄 That can be done respectfully and with your neighbors in mind. Not by getting multiple calls in the middle of the night for being rowdy, Cowboy. Allow us to address the elephant in the room. Yea, Alabama. Evicted before 7 pm. That's gotta be a new record. Tuesday, just after 5 pm, the @WCSOFL was called by a property manager for a home on Overlook Circle in Miramar Beach. They asked for a deputy to stand by while they evicted a group having a house party and probably playing Dixieland Delight too loud. No one inside was 21. Heading back to Sweet Home Alabama before sunset must've been a Tide-al wave of emotions. Our agency will continue to aggressively monitor those here on Spring Break who disrupt the quality of life for those who call Walton County home.
