My family is really into state/national parks. We like to visit, our kids earn their ranger badges doing the challenges and filling out info after a ranger gives their presentation, we hike the trails, read the history, even bring our dogs and let them enjoy the spaces. I really really hate that we keep cutting their funding to be honest. Our very first charge as humans from God was to take care of this place. Hard to do when the guys on top keep selling protected land and making it easier for rich folks to set up data centers and developers to build cookie cutter expensive houses on land that used to be beautiful.

Been backing away from talking politics lately. But where they intersect with faith is where I have strong feelings especially. Listen, no human who respects God would ever post this picture of themselves as Lord. It’s that simple. The way of Trump and the way of Jesus are incompatible, incongruent, mutually exclusive. And I think people of faith, if you really wrestle with it, know this. Maybe you like his style, his administration, whatever. But you have to know that his way and Jesus’ aren’t remotely close to each other. Trump posts about raising hell (just a week ago) while Jesus spent His ministry bringing the kingdom of Heaven down. Summation, this stuff is horribly offensive to the way of Christ and those who follow it.

My classmate was raped on her way back home from university and got pregnant, but couldn’t get an abortion due to the laws. She had to drop out of university where she was studying medicine. Because of pregnancy and childbirth expenses, she couldn’t continue her studies, left college, started working at a coffee shop, lost the fun of her early twenties, and lost the chance to attend international medical conferences she once dreamt of… all just to give birth to a child she never wanted. People say, “What if the baby you abort grows up and cures cancer?” Okay — but what if the 19-year-old you deny an abortion to grows up and cures cancer? Now she can’t afford to get an education. Instead, she has to take care of a baby. What about her? An actual living human being??? “Abortion ends potential life”… So do property disputes, war, and genocide. You only seem to care about lives when women don’t give birth to them.
