What the options market told us today: → Elevated put/call = cautious positioning → Stable term structure = no immediate shock fully priced → Watch IV outliers into tomorrow The market speaks through options flow. Learn the language.

One thing 12 years in institutional finance taught me: The best options trades are boring. No YOLO. No lottery tickets. Just identify where IV is mispriced, take the other side, and manage risk. That's the edge.

$AAPL The market opened today with significant momentum, and $AAPL has demonstrated considerable strength, decoupling from the broader indices during the session.

3 options trades that destroy retail accounts: 1. Buying premium into earnings without pricing IV crush 2. Selling naked puts on unstable names 3. Rolling losers just to avoid admitting the original trade was wrong All three feel rational in the moment.

$QQQ is pricing roughly a $17.34 move over the next 7 days from 672.61, or about 2.6%. With IV at 18.6% and IV Rank near 50, this is not panic premium. Neutral view? Defined-risk premium selling outside 655-690 makes more sense than paying up for a chase.

Professional options trading isn't prediction-first. It's mispricing-first. Direction matters. But pricing matters more. If you don't know IVR before the trade, you're trading half blind.

"Is this option cheap or expensive?" Most traders can't answer this. Professionals use IV Rank. IVR tells you where current IV sits relative to its own 52-week range. 🧵

Real edge comes from comparing what the market is charging vs what the stock actually tends to do. If implied volatility overshoots realized volatility enough, premium sellers have the math. Not every time. Over time.

IVR 0–20 → historically low IV → options relatively cheap IVR 80–100 → historically high IV → premium elevated That doesn't give direction. It gives pricing context. That's the whole point.

Today's focus: QQQ, SPY, NVDA. Watch opening range, vol response, and whether leadership broadens. Trade what you see, not what you feel. (4/4)

VIX is stable enough that stock-specific IV matters more than macro panic. If single-name IV outruns realized movement, premium selling has edge. If vol stays underpriced vs catalyst risk, defined-risk longs make more sense. (3/4)
