Over the past 24 hours two thirds of bitcoin transactions were for the sole purpose of supporting non-bitcoin assets like memecoins, stablecoins and staking tokens. I'm about as certain as I can be that this is a true statement and not hyperbole. I'd be more than glad to be proven wrong. How high does it have to get before enough folks see this as a problem and take action to reverse the trend? Or maybe I'm just on the wrong side of this. Perhaps it's perfectly acceptable and a good thing for the Bitcoin network to be mostly used for centralized, fiat-centric assets. It sure seems that's where most people are.
