KIRKBY VETERANS The BLOCK Armed forces veteran support services will be attending Kirkby job centre every Wednesday afternoon, 13:00 – 16:30 hrs. Offering support and advice on health, housing, addiction, welfare, community, and employment. No appointment needed.

One 18 month journey from homelessness into permanent housing came to an end this week, our team are delighted for the Kings veteran, big thank you to @lpoolcouncil and the Blocks housing manager for peer mentoring the veteran throughout.

Good meeting with Walton prison veterans in custody team today, big thank you to Danielle and Neil for attending the Block and inviting us into Walton Prison next month. Today we discussed pathways out of homelessness, into employment, local partners and Valour. #veterans

The Final Push! Our new office space at The Block Armed Forces Foundation is nearly ready. This new hub will allow us to expand the support we offer to the Armed Forces community. We hope the new facility will be an advantage for all.

Busy Monday as we took a referral for a Veteran needing emergency accommodation and wrap around support. The new Merseyside police custody community nurse Armed Forces Champion also attended today gathering information on what support is available for Veterans locally.

Nine veterans are currently at week 3 of a 24 week Level 3 counselling course held at the Blocks new employment and education office on Walton Road in Liverpool. The course is being run by Total Training & funded by @LpoolCityRegion

1st March, 2011 Lance Corporal Liam Tasker, aged 26 from Kirkcaldy, and of the Royal Army Veterinary Corps, was shot and killed by insurgents whilst on patrol with his dog Theo, in the Shingazi area of Nahr-e Saraj, Helmand Province. Lest we Forget this brave man and Theo 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇬🇧

@GBNEWS Not necessarily, it should be a personal choice not one to be encouraged by anyone outside of the Forces or any other factors for that matter. It’s not just a career choice is sacrafice of civilian life and everything that goes with it. Service personnel need to be 100% in.

Another productive week at the Block with some important small wins to celebrate which have included supporting unemployed veterans and early service leavers into funded education and training programs along with accomadation support to homeless ex forces people in our city.
