Re: Keller outing today… Pirates seemingly have been ultra conservative with their starters in the build up and innings budget early on. Understandable. The simple fact and brutal reality is that starting pitching depth is not strong enough to be anything other than stringent and disciplined with their current 5-man. They traded two arms away to get bats. Margin is razor thin in this area. They’re vulnerable.

Defense was the reason we lost this game. Padres had great defense Pirates had poor defense. Konnor Griffin should be starting at SS every day. He doesn’t need rest and I’m sure he wants to play. His defense could have saved us today. Oh well. Bring in the Cubs.

This all looks good in the big picture but can you tell me what his base salary breakdown is per year. Just because the Pirates are signing for $140 million doesn’t mean Bob Nutting is paying all of that money or fully committing to 9 years. I would like to see if the deal has Konnor getting paid modest money in the first 3-4 years and then stacked with inflated salaries later in the deal. If that’s the case, Bob is trying to keep Konnor for the cheaper years before he trades him to the Yankees or Dodgers in the years where he ‘s owed the most money. See the Marlins 6 year deal years ago with Hanley Ramirez. Do you know the annual salary breakdown?
