*Disclaimer* Primary composition is not indicative of the general election! Last night was a huge night for primaries. We're still waiting on votes from OR and PA (and probably will be for a while) but the primary composition is currently sitting at D+4.1 with 18.4M votes cast.

Here’s what primary turnout looked like in the states that voted last night (AL/GA have open primaries and the other states have closed primaries) PA cracks me up a little, Rs just hate voting in midterms there

@davidhughes_phd 43%. More than double the 21% the Ds got in 2022. And LOTS of D voters pulled and R ballot.

@SunBeltPolitics Yes, but Fulton and DeKalb are home to Esteves and Thurmond. Surely that played into it.

Of course, funny enough is Bottoms is doing really bad with the voters that know her best She's only up 48-28 in Fulton, 43-28 in DeKalb. This as she sits 56-18 statewide. Wondering how many undecided suburbs will swing in November.

Bethel sits +3.2 (51.6 - 48.4) with a 58,000 vote lead even after 80% in Fulton drops. It's over. Fulton only +33 for Rankin, this might actually look like Bethel's 4.4% win in 2020 lol

The year will be very blue, and that will help KLB for sure, but it's not ideal that she's underperforming her statewide total in Fulton and DeKalb, the two counties that contain Atlanta proper

@DjsokeSpeaking This happened in Alabama Gov in 2022. A rando named Yolanda who barely campaigned won the D primary. The consensus is thay it was voters didn't know any of the candidates, but went with her because of her name.

Yeah, I genuinely think this is it The messaging about the race didn't break through the noise of the >$100m being spent on other primary races, and so a lot of Ds are using Rankin's name as their signal
Yirmiyahu@YirmiyahuLaw

@DjsokeSpeaking Have we considered that people don't know anything about these races, but Miracle Rankin just sounds like a black name?

@BK84548835 @bluestein I've tracked the early vote for the last three weeks. The biggest spikes in D vote are always between 4pm and poll closing.

@atwaSDOK @stphnfwlr Not traditionally in GA. 2026 marks the first year Ds have beat Rs in early voting turnout in Georgia.

At lunchtime, slightly more Republicans than Democrats of the ~400k Election Day votes, Georgia officials tell me. That's likely not enough to counteract the ~150k vote / 15% early vote edge Democrats have. Only Q remains how much party ID maps onto Supreme Court races. #gapol

👀👀👀 These aren't the *final final* Georgia early voting numbers but after an expected mammoth final day... Democrats have a nearly 15% advantage (56.6% - 41.9%) over Republicans. The 2026 midterm trend of D enthusiasm + GOP apathy continues apace, for now. #gapol

@IntravenousIva I would say around 2830 in Jefferson County. There are several competitive local races.

@ThePoliticalHQ @ZacharyDonnini Democrats may also gain additional momentum later in the day, particularly as working voters begin returning home and turnout patterns shift accordingly.

According to @ZacharyDonnini, we are looking at an overall electorate of about D+7 in Georgia tonight. Republicans are not turning out in the numbers they needed, so far.

According to @bluestein, Republicans slightly outnumber Democrats in Election Day turnout in Georgia. The issue? Early morning through 4 PM is typically the GOP’s best opportunity to bank large numbers of votes. They’re not getting what they need, especially considering Democrats outnumbered Republicans in early voting by 151,977 votes.

Senate Iran war powers vote today could be *very* close - due to GOP absences + past Dem progress in peeling off on-the-fence Rs. GOP Sens. Cornyn, Cramer, Tillis + Tuberville missed the first vote of the day, as did Dem Sen. Bennet. Last war powers push narrowly defeated 49-50

"Trump appointed judge" will be a popular phrase this week from Alabama's liberal media legion, aldotcom & APR. It's technically true, but also misleading and I doubt if any of them actually understand that. Anna Manasco is punishment for electing Doug Jones to the Senate which was punishment to GOP voters who nominated a Republican that was twice tossed from office. Stupidity has consequences. #alpolitics

@bullygirl1963 @Goldni007 @ScottButtram Calling someone a "retard" just because you were proven wrong is not very Christian of you. Just FYI majority is more than 50%- which Truno has never gotten.
