@TheRideshareGuy I’m not sure “hurting Elon” is the main point. He is the richest man in the world with full access to every lever of our democracy. Rather, it’s a form of protest and free expression of civil protest should vehemently defended.

Yes. And the west in America is this phenomenon on steroids compared even to the east coast. And this extends beyond a societal reflection to the personal. The individuals driving culture at every level seem far more often to be people who have strained or even estranged relationships with their families of origin, whose very lives are constructed on a blank slate premise. People willing to take big risks because they have the least left to lose; they've already left so much behind.
