The internet is telling you The Odyssey is a big failure/it sucks. But here's the truth, if you're a Nolan fan, 99.9% you'll love it. Normal people 95% chance of really liking it. It's grand, paced well, & Matt Damon is great in it. See in in IMax or even LIEMax if interested

Christopher Nolan was the biggest reason audiences bought tickets for THE ODYSSEY. 51% of moviegoers said Nolan was their main draw, ahead of the film’s star-studded cast, which came in second at 44%. (Via: deadline.com/2026/07/box-of…)

The critic reviews are bought! The audience reviews are suppressed! The ticket sales are inflated! Never have so many chuds spewed so much cope with such desperation! Next, they'll claim there is no film; it's all a mass delusion!

There's just no way the actual audience rating is 97% on Rotten Tomatoes. Metacritic has the movie at a 5.3/10 user score, Letterboxd has it at 4.3 and IMDB has it at 8.3/10. Rotten Tomatoes is removing negative reviews at the behest of the studio.

The Lion King is currently my kids’ favorite movie, so I have watched it many times over the last few months. I have no shame in saying that, as an adult, I am still struck by the final section of the film with every viewing. It is a perfect portrayal of the true king embracing his role and returning to drive out the pretenders and set the kingdom in proper order. This is exactly the kind of archetypal story I want my kids to be familiar with at an early age. “This is my kingdom. If I don’t fight for it, who will?”

Absolutely true, but no one can deny that Oscars voters have been thinking about it, hoping for it, praying for it. How the F does Dune: Part One dominate its 94th Academy Awards evening with 6 wins—similar to Fellowship’s 4—yet none above-the-line, including Denis Villeneuve’s most-egregious Best Director snub? And then, people have pointed out how middle entries Two Towers and D2 eerily won the same 2 “consolation/placeholder” prizes in their respective telecasts—VFX and a Sound category (Two Towers being pre-consolidation, ofc). And now, D3 has a mid-December release, just like all 3 LOTR films—even though D1 was late October and D2 got delayed from Thanksgiving ‘25 to the following March (getting out of Oppenheimer, The Zone of Interest, and Godzilla Minus One’s way). Multiple stars are being brought into alignment.

People trying to claim the Academy will recognize Dune Part 3 like Return of the King are completely missing the context of what happened with LOTR. Jackson filmed all three movies pretty much at the same time between 1999 and 2003. Hell, the Grey Havens was the first thing the Hobbits shot with Gandalf. They'd be filming scenes from all three movies almost every day. Obviously they front-loaded Fellowship as it came out first, but it was treated as one long 12-hour movie. The way Jackson made the LOTR trilogy played a big part in its Oscar sweep. Dune doesn't have that advantage, and Dune: Messiah is in no way a Return of the King level story.
