@ejmb0000000 I highly doubt this happens. Kirk is a top 3 defensive catcher in the game. He’s best utilized behind the plate. Will he get more DH days? Yeah. But he won’t be getting 50% of his games at DH. A half day off for catchers doesn’t go as far as a full day as well. Even with his bat.

Valenzuela being this good means starting next season when Springer is gone, you can spell Kirk a lot more often as a DH and get him in the lineup nearly every day. could genuinely run a 50/50 split at catcher and lose barely anything. good situation to have

A player that I've been very impressed with so far this year is Brandon Valenzuela (TOR). With the absence of Alejandro Kirk, he's taken over as the main backstop. Lots of linedrives have led to good results, 105 wRC+ and 0.7 fWAR in 25 games.
