@RobWong34 Prolly like Kirk, which is prolly what they previously discussed with him. But he’s been not good since then (mid season last year) and doubt they even want to bring him back on any multi year deals.

It’s time to DFA Santander and eat the contract. There’s nothing left there. The relationship is over. The bridges are burned.

@PensareBBall I’ll tell you why it has leaked: because it was done Sunday and contract details are being worked on behind the scenes.

If you've ever wondered why Toronto consistently deals with teams like San Antonio and Indiana, this media shitstorm is why. Yes, Toronto, the team whose draft pick hasn't been leaked in nearly a decade is involved in a fairly public bidding war against themselves for Kawhi Leonard. The fallout of such trade discussions is the entire roster, especially Gradey Dick and Brandon Ingram going through a week of uncertainty and rumors, right as the Raptors are preparing to get everyone together for summer league down in Vegas. It begs the question. Why and how did this become so public? Because it's not the Raptors leaking information to Stein and Fischer. The answer is squarely...this is the Clippers. In their attempt to involve Dallas, Detroit, Portland, Golden State into this, they've effectively taken the private affair public like a pestilent child screaming for a toy at K Mart. It's a platitude. The NBA is a business. And to get Kawhi what he wants, the Raptors are engaging in a dangerous game with a partner that very often throughout this negotiation has acted like an adversary. What is the Clippers end game here? You don't want to pay Kawhi, the Raptors are offering an All Star and former lottery pick deadeye on your timeline with picks attached. But yes, let's engage the Mavs to push up the price. Let's engage Detroit to see if Kawhi will budge. In many ways it feels like both Kawhi and Toronto are hostages in this negotiation, and Ingram by proxy is a casualty of business. Everything says this deal is on schedule. Everything says this deal should come together before free agency begins tomorrow. But Steve Ballmer and Lawrence Frank may throw a monkey wrench in the 11th hour. Not only pissing off Kawhi in the process, but also setting the stage for very awkward relations with Brandon Ingram and the Raptors moving forward. And again. Why? Because this is how Microsoft negotiates. This is how big tech works. The bait. The push. The squeeze. Bobby Webster is engaged in a knife fight. I'm going to hope he brought more than a spoon to defend himself.

It’s not a wild statement to proclaim that Zach Werenski would be the best defenseman to ever play for the Maple Leafs.

Dreger is sweating bullets right now praying the Leafs make a trade so his credibility doesn't take another massive hit this off season.

This is such a low understanding of what it means to play in a market like Toronto. Does this dildo understand that players like Sittler, Lanny, Wendel, Killer and Tucker are STILL making money 40 year after they retired, through endorsements just because they were Leafs.

Canadian teams cannot compete under current tax laws, with players paying upwards to 50%+ of their salary in taxes. It's not the NHL's duty to compensate for poor Canadian legislation either. Who will Make Canada Great Again?

🟢1990: 74% of NHL'ers were Canadian. US was 15%. 🟡2026: Canada fell to 41%. US surged to 29%. 🔴2035: US is projected to completely overtake. Hockey Canada is blinded by historic arrogance and the legacy is fading. The math doesn't lie and America is taking over the NHL.

I'm officially not listening to ANY other insiders for any information on any Leafs news except for Elliotte Friedman. Dreger, LeBrun, Seravalli, terrible - no clue what goes on. Friedman & Kevin Weekes are the only two reliable sources. #LeafsForever

The problem with a De’Aaron Fox trade is: Who wants Fox? Most teams that need a PG are gonna draft one. This class is loaded with guards. Teams that would trade for one will prefer the younger and cheaper Ja Morant. There’s a chance San Antonio is just stuck with Fox.

"If I were John I wouldn't trade him unless I got an offer I liked" real hard hitting analysis there Darren
Leafslatest@Leafslatest

Teams around the NHL are reportedly saying that Leafs GM John Chayka’s view on whether Matthew Knies is a player the Leafs would consider moving this offseason 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗺𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁, per @DarrenDreger. “I had a couple of teams say to me that Chayka’s view on whether or not Matthew Knies is legitimately a piece they would part with seems to change from one day to the next, but that’s fine. He’s entitled to that. If I were John, I would say, ‘Okay, well, unless somebody drops an offer on my table that makes me actually consider moving Matthew Knies, then no, I’m not going to trade him. I’m not going to…’” Via @OverDrive1050 #Leafsforever

@JDGilroy Just think as a general strategy this is what they should be doing. Look for underutilized players that may have value.

Michael Kesselring played all of 4:25 for the Sabres in the playoffs. Still an RFA. Maple Leafs should be looking into players like that instead of giving out a massive contract to Darren Raddysh IMO.
