i think a lot of people want bullseye to have a redemption arc because theyre uncomfortable with the fact that they like an evil character and it somehow reflects bad on them morally. like no man, dex is a complex and interesting villain it's ok to like him. he's not real

But the creators later changed it in post. “They CGI’ed me shooting him in the head.” Showrunner Dario Scardapane said once they tested the edit, the room went silent. “They mocked it up really fast, and you could have heard a pin drop in the editing room… like, holy shit.” Michael Gandolfini agreed with the show's creative team that his character's death was the right narrative choice, stating, "If I didn't think it was right, I'd fight you guys... but I was really grateful that they gave Daniel such a respectful goodbye". The actor felt that, after his character's actions in the show's "hateful darkness" arc, it would have been dishonest for him to survive.
