@drivereightyone They're just giving competition to the Ferrari strat team

In a more level-headed "debrief" post here, for anyone who has followed and engaged me in enough discourse to care, I just want to air out the only thing that bothers me about modern day F1 or even the "social media" sports fandom zeitgeist.
Aside from shithousery/banter, which I expect and even engage in myself, I quite frankly find it very annoying that certain fanbases and prominent voices within them are so quick to narrative shift/frame conveniently. When Kimi is in a podium picture with Lewis and Max, you have people saying "wow look, 3 talents of their generation on the podium", obviously elevating Kimi's potential and reputation to being the "next generational talent", yet when it is to criticize George, they infantilize Kimi to being a teenager who is giving George a hard time.
The problem with this is that both cannot obviously (objectively) be true. Kimi is a great prospect, it was VERY obvious that he had "something", hence why Mercedes were so willing to put him in the team when Lewis announced his sudden option/departure, and why they did not want to lose him to other teams.
As a George fan, there is always a bit of trepidation, and I definitely had my doubts, especially since it felt like George may be receiving a raw deal in it all as he is presently "out of sync" with the F1 timeline, despite doing everything he needed to do.
Kimi is a great talent, he is showing his tremendous raw pace and potential already, and has made a huge leap from last year as far as consistency is concerned. But, narrative framing is also being a bit kind to him. George was "penciled in" as the "favorite" if Mercedes had a great package this year, and a sexier headline is Kimi doing everything he is doing (which deserves applause, but is also on an objective level what Mercedes are paying him to do, maximize his own results).
I know it's easy to take cheap shots, and to attempt to be some gotcha level TMZ fan, but I also genuinely don't understand the level of opposition George has from the general fanbase. He has this alleged reputation of being some preppy/snotty complainer who feels he is entitled to everything, but those who actually followed his career have seen that he's actually quite the opposite of that.
Maybe this is his burden to bear, I'll still be cheering for him regardless, but it's a bit annoying to have people frame arguments simply because they dislike George and will use anything to cut him at the legs. He was dominating this weekend, yet we've seen people saying that he was choking under pressure (really?), and again it's just disingenuous.
It will only make that 2026 World Driver's Championship that much sweeter when George wins it in a way that only he can: deck stacked against him, backed in a corner, enveloped in Murphy's Law yet he still comes back up & out.
Time for bed.

@GeorgeRussell63 Even in that moment you made sure to not throw it where it would endanger anyone else. That’s just the type of person you are. I definitely wanted to throw stuff just watching 😄

Apologies to the marshals & FIA for making their job harder than it needed to be. Lots of emotions in the moment.

George Russell was fined €5,000 for throwing his headrest out of the car in frustration after failing to finish the #CanadianGP 💰
English

@GeorgeRussell63 @MercedesAMGF1 Well done for keeping your calm! All the best for tomorrow’s race 🍀
English

@PrincessShuri He was completely out of line. They asked him nicely to calm down several times to no avail. I don’t think it serves anyone to be driving a car at that speed while throwing a temper tantrum
English

@MercedesAMGPCF1 Probably got some briefing before going into this 😂
English

@Blueeyeddiva289 he can gain psychological advantage after this for sure, I’m excited to see how this situation is gonna impact the rest of canada weekend
English

@thef1diplomat @ThermicDude You can bet GR is going to be pushing all his buttons 😄
English

@ThermicDude hence what I was trying to explain. he is driving WAY too hot-headedly and emotionally, a bit of immaturity and inexperience. he needs to chill out or else he will be his own worst enemy
English

Immaturity on full display. He’s poised to have a 2023 George Russell season.

❓: Russell said you can’t overtake around the outside into Turn 1… 🥶 Kimi Antonelli: “If you’re wheel to wheel, you can overtake anywhere.”
English

@wearetherace @XPBImages He’s so much smarter than him. The kid expected to be given way and was then upset his reckless maneuver didn’t work out. I applaud GR for not backing down and teaching him a valuable lesson
English

@AleBentivoglio1 @FormulaDirecta Did you watch with your eyes closed? This is a ridiculous statement
English

@FormulaDirecta It's clear that Russell is nervous and feeling the pressure, especially since Antonelli has been leading the championship for a while
English

George Russell: "Por el exterior no se puede adelantar en la curva 1"
"Le respeto por haberlo intentado. Las emociones están a flor de piel cuando te subes al coche. Lo hablaremos dentro".
