@mjarbo I completely agree - and I have to push myself to pay $30 to see a movie so I can't imagine what regular film goers feel about that price and it really does feel like imax is the only way to go

I think the IMAX elitism around THE ODYSSEY might actually hurt it. Yes, Nolan shot the entire movie with IMAX cameras. That’s impressive. It’s also a vanity project. The marketing has spent a year telling people that IMAX 70mm is the “real” version. Influencers repeat it. Fans repeat it. Anything less is treated like you’re watching the movie through a dirty windshield. The nearest 70mm IMAX theater to me is roughly 700 miles away. So what am I supposed to do? Cross multiple states to watch a movie correctly? Most people will not do that. Some will chase the premium ticket because of FOMO. Everyone else may just shrug and wait. And that’s the problem. The IMAX screenings will sell out. The headlines will look great. Nolan fans will post photos from 3 a.m. showings like they survived Normandy. But IMAX has a ceiling. There are only so many screens, seats and showtimes. Once those are full, THE ODYSSEY still needs normal people filling normal auditoriums for weeks. Nolan may have sold the ultimate theatrical experience so hard that he accidentally told most of the country their local theater isn’t good enough. A huge IMAX opening makes a great headline. Standard theaters determine whether the movie actually has legs.

@MikeKalinowski There's a difference between a cast list full of side characters, and filling a roster with characters that are meant to have their own distinct story lines

Just curious, everyone that thinks Man of Tomorrow has too many characters… Do you know what a supporting cast is? When you go see a non-superhero film and there’s a thing called a “cast list” and there’s 40 to 50 people on it, do you think that movie is overstuffed?
