Assuming the Friday Fever gets UPA approval, I predict we’ll see quite a few unsigned players using it. Affordable, very solid paddle Been seeing a lot of Luzz cannons in qualies imagine Friday will pick up some of that market

@jayevans813 @NicoTheLefty You’d like to think that as the sport continues to evolve the progressive format allows for more athletic showcasing of top pro skills as weekend approaches since they won’t be on hour 8 of the day. Specifically in singles, but I don’t think singles is the future of the sport

@Bluxters @NicoTheLefty 100% agreed. Progressive draw much more favorable for lower-tier pros from a travel standpoint Also from a physicality standpoint - one match a day in each concentration as opposed to 4-5 in singles

At what point do we just give up on progressive draw and stick with Friday-Sunday? There are more people in the players boxes than the entire stands

@NicoTheLefty Both would definitely be ideal. I think MLP is much more fan / attendance focused and PPA is carving itself out to be more virtually attended. Different target markets with each product imo

I have some very sad news but they say you should smile because it happened, don’t cry because it is over. After a few very helpful years of working together, Leigh Waters and I will no longer be coach and student. We will however always remain friends. Leigh practically introduced me to professional pickleball, and with her advice, I made the choice to quit my senior year of tennis for pro pickleball. She believed in me before hardly anyone had. It is in part to her that I made the best decision of my life. I am forever thankful for that. Unfortunately though, all good things must come to an end. Leigh and I found ourselves competing against each other too often, with her first obligation to coach her daughter, Anna Leigh, and The Fives. This situation was more than understandable but still very stressful for both of us. It was an arrangement that seemed doable on paper, and was at the start, but just didn’t work well long term. That being said, thank you for being the best pickleball coach and the first female coach I have ever had. I believe we are both excited for the next chapter, and wish each other nothing but success. Hopefully, I will still see you in the finals!

@NicoTheLefty It’s that ‘class / etiquette’ stigma we are seeing pickleball drift away from as a racket sport, which I think is awesome and good for entertainment value

The trash talk hate is so forced. & seems to come from tennis fans. Every other sport the biggest names are trash talking constantly. Kobe, MJ, Tom Brady etc. And it’s totally ok/normal to hate your opponent while you play them, and respect them after the game/match is over.

@tylerloong Depends on how well you know the person / the backstory. If it’s over a bad call / poor sportsmanship then fake yeah, but if it’s a guy you’re cool with off court and want to turn the intensity up against I don’t see the harm

I have many thoughts on this - don’t talk smack in the first place - if you do, don’t act buddy buddy 1 minute later, as that makes it seem fake Or should we normalize trash talking and then becoming friends 1 minute afterwards? To me, this seems inauthentic. Thoughts?

@BrookesJones7 I’m doing Chicago, had my mixed partner drop me a couple days ago. Felt like a placeholder and that shit sucked lol. I’ve been cancelled on and they didn’t make tourney but never had it happen and they pick new partner

For the second tournament in a row my qualies dubs partner has withdrawn. The wrinkle now is that I have to play two events so….. unless i find a dubs partner we may be about to witness the worst singles qualies run ever

@ZaneNavratil Are qualifier players allowed to gamble on MLP futures? Used to get emails saying I can’t for PPA events which is fair. But qualifier results (on unsigned players) should not affect MLP outcomes
