Last year: 25 rookies averaged over 20mpg.... Of those 25, 18 played over 60 games... Of those 18, 6 did it on teams who made play-in or playoffs....

With the recent publication of new data being added to @bball_ref, we get a better look into just how insane Wilt was on the defensive end of the game. Of the 14 player games in their database with 15+ blocks, 10 of them belong to Wilt Chamberlain.

Last night, Cade Cunningham set the Detroit Pistons playoff record for most points in a game with 45. I have to imagine that Cunningham will own the majority of this top 10 before his time in Detroit is up.

On the one hand, Nikola Jokić has not looked his best thus far in the playoffs. On the other hand, he is averaging 25/14/9 through 5 games. No other player has met all three of those thresholds during a playoff run. Only 7 other players have ever averaged a 25/14/5 for a postseason.

Karl-Anthony Towns is averaging 21.3 points and 11.0 rebounds while slashing 57/50/100% in the playoffs. Think about that efficiency for a second... The only other players in the past 30 years to average more than 20 PPG and more than 10 RPG while shooting above 55% from the field and 50% from downtown over the first three games of a postseason are: Nikola Jokic and Charles Barkley.

Higher seeded teams to take a 2-0 series lead (in the 2-2-1-1-1 format) have gone on to win the series 92% of the time. The last team to lose in such a case was the 2024 Knicks vs the Pacers.

First of all, congratulations to Victor Wembanyama. He is the only choice for DPOY. I will say though, I am surprised to learn he was the first unanimous DPOY. Would have thought Hakeem Olajuwon would have accomplished that at least once. Then again, Hakeem averaged 4.6 BPG and 2.1 SPG in 1990 and was only DPOY runner-up.

With Cade Cunningham AND Luka Doncic now officially eligible, my All-NBA First Team. I will say, it is a bit disheartening that not one of these five players even played 70 games this season.

Michael Cooper was one of just twenty-two players in NBA history to play for New Mexico in college. However, he is not the only Hall of Famer to play for the Lobos. Mel Daniels, inducted into the HOF in 2012, was an All-American for New Mexico in the 1960s.
