A statement from Secretary Al Schmidt: Throughout the day, the Department has communicated with counties that continue to conduct a secure election where every eligible vote is counted - that includes the ballots remaining to be adjudicated, for example provisional, military and overseas ballots. I want to take a moment to thank our county election administrators across the Commonwealth who will continue to work throughout the holiday weekend to make sure every legitimate vote is counted. Election Day is the start of counting ballots in Pennsylvania. This process takes time - and occurs after every election, close or not.

PA Senate: the Associated Press told me earlier today that they estimated 109,000 ballots were still outstanding. Up from 91,000 the day before. That is - they stress and I stress - an estimate. And they adjust it as they get more information.

A statement from Secretary Al Schmidt: Throughout the day, the Department has communicated with counties who continue to conduct a secure election where every eligible vote is counted. We estimate there are at least 100,000 ballots remaining to be adjudicated, including provisional, military, overseas, and Election Day votes. We urge patience as election workers continue to do this important work, especially in contests where the margins are very close.
