Lately it’s become far too popular to have a “negative” take..
It’s become far too popular to bash product or attack @wizards_magic.
It’s become far too popular to post “rage bait”
If it’s not the set release schedule, it’s the art, or the writing, or the cards, or the set mechanics, or the booster packs were the wrong color.
It really hit me when we were in the car listening to a content creator we genuinely used to like and my 8 year old literally said “It seems like they hate every single set and all they do is complain. Why do they even play magic anymore?”.
An 8 year old said that. Let that soak in.
My point?
I’m exhausted of the negativity just to be negative. I’m tired of the negativity for clicks. I’m tired of the people who say they love this game but tear it down at every opportunity.
I’m all for constructive criticism but it’s gotten out of hand.
This game has brought so much to my life. It’s almost impossible to crack a pack without smiling.
I’m grateful for how it’s helped me nurture a relationship with my children.
I’m grateful for how on my bad days, Magic The Gathering always cheers me up.
I’m grateful for how much fun we had opening AetherDrift, Murders at Karlov Manor, and for the excitement, love, and gratefulness I saw in my kid’s eyes as we opened Spider-Man today.
Can we please work together to be more positive, more constructive, more educational, and funnier?
Not everything needs to be hate mail…
PS - Incase I wasn’t clear: We loved Spider-Man, love Universes Beyond, love in Universes cards, love Secret Lair, and yes we loved Spider-Man.
One more thing. To the people at @wizards_magic and @Hasbro who’ve worked so hard to create and maintain this game: Thank you for the joy you’ve brought me@over the years. You helped me cope with traumatic bullying, brought me smiles when I was grieving my Dad’s death and you were with me when I had my biggest moment, a fight in the UFC (there’s been a deck of cards in the Octagon with me). One final thank you and the most important one: Thank you for lighting up my children’s eyes. As a Father I can’t thank you enough.
