What we should be discussing is not whether courts have judicial review powers on impeachment of DP. That is a given. It is the extent of that review - should it be ltd to procedural issues or does it include merit review? If it involves merit, what are the applicable standards?

After all the unnecessary drama caused by rogue police officers, we still managed to get families of victims of extra judicial killings and enforced disappearances to present the list of 60 killed and 14 disappeared comrades to Mr Osiya - The Principal Administrative Secretary at the Office of the President. Let the President not say that he has no names of those killed and/or disappeared.

Today, we have delivered the list of victims of extra judicial killings and enforced disappearances to the Office of the President. No more should Ruto say he does not know who has been killed or disappeared. The list has 60 victims of killings and 14 of disappearances.

HIGH COURT JUDGMENT ALERT: Funds should only be allocated to national agencies after the equitable division between the two levels of govt. The NG-CDF will cease effectively June 30, 2026 (Majority). Judge Thande dissent ruling unconstitutional NG-CDF should end on June 30,2025. Conclusively, High Court has buried NG-CDF. It is unconstitutional for the following sound constitutional principles:- 1. Undermines devolution architecture and functions 2. Principle of separation of powers 3. Constituency is not a delivery unit that leads to wastage of resources.

My view is that Members of Parliament are meant to legislate, not implement. The Constituency Development Fund (CDF) has diverted a large number of MPs from these fundamental duties by shifting their focus to constructing roads, hospitals, and other development projects which are used to try and win over voters. The original CDF Act was declared unconstitutional in 2015 for breaching the separation of powers, leading to the revised NG-CDF Act. However, debates continue on whether MPs should be handling these funds at all. The 2022 High Court ruling further questioned the legitimacy of MPs managing these funds, so we await the Supreme Court ruling on the NG-CDF Act this afternoon. Shouldn’t we be moving away from CDF and instead channelling those funds to systemic solutions like free education for all that would eliminate the need for temporary bursaries and provide lasting benefits for every Kenyan child?

The @LawSocietyofKe strongly condemns the withdrawal of the security of the Hon. Justice Mr. Lawrence Mugambi. We note that this unacceptable retaliation against a Judge for the lawful discharge of his duty is a threat to the Rule of Law and Administration of Justice. The security of Judges is an intrinsic part of upholding Judicial Independence. The removal of a Judge's security detail is an unconstitutional act of intimidation against the @Kenyajudiciary and offends the duty of the Police to uphold the Constitution. We call on the National Police Sercice to reevaluate this unpalatable miscarriage of duty and immediately reinstate the Judge's security.
