Am participat astăzi la sesiunea specială a Forumului de Afaceri al Inițiativei celor Trei Mări, un format relevant pentru că reunește țări, cele mai multe dintre ele foste comuniste, care au o dezvoltare similară și aceleași aspirații în interiorul Uniunii Europene, urmărind obiective comune în energie și în ceea ce privește competitivitatea. Împreunǎ putem să fim mai eficienți și să avem mai multe fonduri disponibile pentru inovare, care reprezintă motorul progresului. Pentru România, este așadar o bună oportunitate să ne asociem și să ne conectăm economiile pentru a ne promova cu toții mai bine interesele.

Pleased to discuss with Secretary of the @USArmy Dan Driscoll security topics of shared interest and ways to enhance our enduring RO-US Strategic Partnership, with a special focus on defence and economy. We agreed that there is a need to step up our cooperation in order to take advantage of all defence industry cooperation opportunities, including security  innovation, research and start-ups. Romania continues to be the most reliable US partner and Ally at the Black Sea, where challenges and risks tend to increase, affecting the Euro-Atlantic security. Romania is ready to invest more and to do more for its own security and for Allied security. We are convinced that the security of Ukraine is closely linked to our own security and also to the security of the Republic of Moldova and to the region as a whole. We both share the assessment that we should diversify efforts to adjust to the existing security environment. Am avut azi consultări cu partidele pro-occidentale din actuala Coaliție. Au fost consultări informale, pentru că, la acest moment politic, Constituția nu dă Președintelui vreo atribuție, însă, e important să știm cum vedem fiecare dintre noi viitorul. Suntem, evident, într-o criză politică. Criza n-a început azi. De luni de zile, neînțelegerile, diferențele de opinie între partidele din Coaliție s-au amplificat. În discuțiile de astăzi, le-am cerut partidelor să dezescaladeze retorica publică și să se uite la soluții mai mult decât la probleme pentru că, în orice formulă politică, majoritară sau minoritară, vom avea nevoie de dialog între forțele politice pro-occidentale. Dincolo de această criză politică, instituțiile funcționează. Suntem un stat funcțional, cu o diferență de opinie la nivel politic. Nu se pune în discuție direcția pro-occidentală a României. Liderii partidelor și reprezentanții minorităților naționale cu care m-am întâlnit astăzi au afirmat expres că exclud o guvernare cu forțe anti-occidentale, adică AUR, și și-au exprimat disponibilitatea de cooperare pe proiectele esențiale pe care România le are în perioada imediat următoare: OECD, SAFE, PNRR. Deci, calm și vom trece prin asta.

Earlier today, I had a phone call with António Costa, President of the European Council, to discuss Romania’s priorities and key interests ahead of the upcoming European Council meeting on 19–20 March in Brussels. Our conversation focused on competitiveness and the Single Market, the green energy transition, the EU budget, and the revitalization of European industry. I conveyed Romania’s commitment to the objective of a fully integrated Single Market, as well as our call for significant streamlining of bureaucracy and administrative burdens across the European Union. Energy remains an essential priority for Romania - particularly in the context of ongoing conflict in the Middle East, the importance of reducing the European Union’s dependence on fossil fuel imports has never been higher. As I’ve previously emphasized, our green energy transition must proceed at a pace and within a framework that safeguards the competitiveness of European and Romanian companies. I also raised the issue of the future EU budget framework, stressing that as discussions progress, Romania’s perspective needs to be clearly understood: the EU budget must ensure appropriate resources dedicated to bolstering competitiveness throughout Eastern European member states such as Romania, which continue to face a historical development gap compared to the rest of the Union. Yet even today, on the anniversary, President @ZelenskyyUa is threatening and pressuring Hungary because we refuse to be dragged into the war, refuse to send money to Ukraine, and will not give up affordable Russian energy. It is now also clear that the entire Hungarian opposition has sided with Ukraine. Their goal is chaos, fuel shortages, and higher prices ahead of the elections. They stand with Zelenskyy, not with the Hungarian people. Four years on, the stakes are clear. In April, Hungarians must choose Fidesz.

This is simply insane. In France, a company must pay €95,000 for a gross salary of €60,000 to pay the employee a net €40,000. Can you imagine the incentive to replace French office jobs with AI? It’s game over for the big state and its absurd tax burden within two years.
