I believe in Christ. He is the Son of God. He came to earth, born of the virgin Mary. He “grew and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him.” “And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.” (Luke 2:40, 52) During His ministry, Christ sought out the poor in spirit, the downtrodden, the outcast. He healed the sick, raised the dead, gave sight to the blind. Jesus taught about love, humility, compassion, forgiveness, repentance, and faith. He followed His Father’s will and was baptized to fulfill all righteousness. He suffered, bled, and died so that all could repent and find mercy. He rose the third day and showed Himself to many. He lives, and because He lives, we need not fear death. We need not sorrow in sin. Because of Him, we are never alone, never forgotten, never without hope. Jesus Christ is our Redeemer. I believe in Christ.

As we celebrate Memorial Day tomorrow, I think of how much I love and care about so many people in my life. Often people pass away unexpectedly or at a relatively young age. Especially those who sacrifice for their country. Hold your loved ones close. Give them a hug. Say “I love you.” Say thank you. Give them just a few more moments of your time. It could make all the difference in their lives - and yours. With all the things that are passionately discussed and debated on here (including by me), sometimes the things that matter most get lost in the shuffle. May you all have a blessed Memorial Day.

Having to have Prime to watch the 600 is just dumb. NASCAR knows it's a boring race. Why take your own spectators away?

I haven’t lost myself in motherhood but rather I’m finding myself in motherhood. Becoming a foster parent and then now adopting has been one of the harder things I’ve done but it’s been the greatest thing I’ve ever done.

@MidlifeCredo If you don’t see it as a covenant, that’s fine. But it will end our conversation since that’s where I disagree. The instruction comes from God. There are promises associated with wearing the garment as instructed. The garment, like the sacrament, represents Jesus Christ.

There isn’t a *covenant* to “wear the garment as instructed.” There’s instruction to wear the garment as instructed. So, first, let’s not inflate the perceived sins of others, particularly not publicly. (Doesn’t that seem at least as inappropriate as what you’re pointing at?) Even then, what *instruction* is being violated here? What specific garment wearing instruction are you claiming is not being followed? It’s fine to have a civil discussion about particular expectations and practices. But the way this is being approached seems incredibly problematic.

Covenant relationships are between the individual making the covenant and the Lord. Covenants made in the temple are the highest standard of living God expects of His children. They are not to be taken lightly. That is God’s standard, for God will not be mocked. An adult who is endowed should know the serious nature of the covenants related to wearing the temple garment as instructed. Once someone brings their decisions related to personal covenant living to the public square, it sends a message and creates a public image that will invite scrutiny. Members and nonmembers see it. How you choose to live your covenants is up to you. However, if you post social media videos that imply pushing the limits of what is allowed or encouraging people to relax their standards or justify behavior, do not be surprised when public opinion and scrutiny criticizes that behavior.

I know ppl love this film but honestly I disagree. There is a reason they didn't do this trilogy first. Return of the Jedi beats it easily for me. In fact, I have to be in a certain headspace to even enjoy this film. Not saying it isn't amazing, but its actually very depressing of a film.

@BoiseState4Life I go to the temple regularly and I do initiatory at least once a month. I’m not unfamiliar. I know initiatory is preparatory to the endowment. I know what said specifically. I’m asking you specifically about the *covenant* that you imply is being broken.

Those are indeed the covenants for the endowment ordinance, but they are connected to the initiatory ordinance. “During the initiatory, the member is instructed to wear the temple garment. The garment is a sacred symbol of Jesus Christ. It is also a reminder of temple covenants. When members keep their covenants, including the sacred privilege to wear the garment as instructed, they will have greater access to the Savior’s mercy, protection, strength, and power.” (General Handbook, section 27.2) “In remembering those covenants, those two-way promises, we wear the garment throughout our lives. This practice reflects our desire for the Savior to be a constant influence in our lives. Other beloved symbols are periodic. We are baptized once in our lives. We partake of the sacrament once a week. We attend the temple as circumstances permit. But the garment of the holy priesthood is different: this symbol we honor every day and night. And that’s the way covenants are—not set aside out of convenience or carelessness and not modified to fit the styles and fashions of society. In the life of a disciple of Jesus Christ, the ways of the world must be modified to align with our covenants, not the other way around.” -Jeffrey R Holland

@Sarahsred7 Prove to me that under the plenary heaven-ratified binding power of Mt 16:19, along with the ability of God to reveal doctrine through His chosen instruments as shown in Mt 16:17, the Nicene Creed should be regarded as merely "man-made"?

Why would I? I'd rather follow Christ's definition of a Saint or disciple than the man made Nicene Creed. Christ himself never called his followers "Christian" He called us, disciples, friends, my sheep, little children, and brothers and sisters.

Imagine thinking every other person you talked to is going to burn in Hell forever. Friends. Loved ones. I don't think they truly believe it themselves. Not if they believe God is just and loving. Not if they believe in Christ's mission and the power of His Atonement.

😭 That’s so hard. My wife and I have struggled with infertility for over ten years. You don’t necessarily need to say anything. If you do, just say you love her and are praying for her. With you being her best friend, she’ll reach out to you. She knows you’re there for her without you even saying it.
