I don't care what anyone says, life was just better back then

@Skint_Eastwood1 Posting offensive content is illegal under the Communications Act 2003. So, as with all laws, if you break them, you can't really be surprised when you get in trouble. If you don't want to get in trouble, don't post stuff that's illegal. It really is that simple.
English

🚨UK POLICE STATE: Elderly Brit Arrested & Searched at Home for “OFFENSIVE” Facebook Posts
UK police storm a 64-year-old man’s home, search & arrest him in cuffs for “offensive” Facebook comments.
Officer: “I’m arresting you on suspicion of improper use of the electronic communications network.”
“This is in relation to some comments that you made on a Facebook page.”
“We’ve had reports that you’ve made some comments that are offensive.”
The UK is a joke.

@SarahBBeverly @HelpfulTeacher_ Oh yeah, I forgot the chair thing. Yeah, my opinion is the same, the kid who is acting out like that needs love and patience. And yes, I've had that happen in the classroom, and yes, that's how I dealt with it. As I said, we're just different people you and I.
English

@BoltonWriter @HelpfulTeacher_ You don’t think throwing a chair is violent? Can you imagine adults tolerating this in a workplace? Why is it acceptable to expect kids to adapt to situations that give adults PTSD?
English

Champion your hardest workers 🏆
Teachers are often expected to spend their time catering to the kid who just threw the chair..
...while the kid who follows instructions, working quietly, gets ignored
Stop throwing good money after bad 🃏 and instead invest in effort

English

@BoltonWriter @HelpfulTeacher_ I have family members with dyslexia, a husband whose father suffered brain cancer & died when he was in HS and in my own home to we had times where the water was shut off & we were reliant on the food back. NONE of those circumstances justifies violence in the classroom. NONE.
English

@SarahBBeverly @HelpfulTeacher_ I'm afraid we shall have to disagree on the therapeutic side of teaching. I respect your point of view, and I see where you're coming from, but I don't agree that our role is solely to instruct.
English

@BoltonWriter @HelpfulTeacher_ But we are EDUCATORS, not moms, not therapists! The other kids deserve to LEARN! You can’t simultaneously soothe a meltdown and provide instruction.
English

@HasAhmed_ @KemiBadenoch She'll just say anything if she thinks it will advance her political career, simple as that.
English

In 2023, @KemiBadenoch hosted an Iftar at Lancaster House. I was there. Here’s what happened:
• Call to prayer ✔️
• Men and women prayed separately ✔️
• She stayed, participated, ate food, and raised no issue ✔️
Fast forward to now and she claims Ramadan events with gender-separated prayer are “wrong” and should never have happened.
So what changed?
Not the practice. Not the format.
Just the politics and her principles.
If it was acceptable when she was in government hosting diplomats and business leaders, why is it suddenly “wrong” when it involves ordinary British Muslims?
You can’t have it both way

English

@elnathan_john That's presuming that particular AI is still being trained.
English

Remember that for anyone to check that your work was written by AI using AI, they will have to feed your original text into AI, and that text entered into AI models can become part of the training data.
So these weird vigilantes are in fact only part of the problem. I think writers need to start pushing pack by clearly demanding that their work not be fed into AI checkers without their permission.
If you make a submission to a publisher or organisation you can say: I do not give permission for my work, in part or in full to be fed into any AI model, whether for the purpose of analysis, fact checking or AI-use detection.
Because if you want to become a virtue signalling anti-AI vigilante you do not get to use AI as your cudgel.
English

@Emmanuelalexch4 Well, rejection is a jagged pill to swallow. A few boilerplate compliments round off the edges, I suppose.
English

@BoltonWriter Crazy, why give merits then? Makes it worse.
English

Plain old rejections are cool but you see near misses where you can't define where the problem is always drives me crazy.
Thanks for the credit but what do you mean by this? Abi na village people.

English

@wolk_bruce @Emmanuelalexch4 Comments like that are just form rejections. "It didn't resonate with me", "I'm the wrong person to represent this", "I can see the merits but I'm the wrong fit", "I really enjoyed reading this but I'm afraid I can't move forward with it", etc.
English

@Emmanuelalexch4 Yeah, I submitted a biography to an agent who said, "I just can't see my way forward with this." Geez, I don't know, how about trying to market it?
English

@BoltonWriter @pennyistyping “Current Read”
Say it's “Doki Doki Literature Club”. It’ll make you sound super intellectual.
English

@HelpfulTeacher_ @LeeMcClymont Says the SEND teacher who doesn't think children's behaviour is indicative of some communicated need for extra support. Staggering.
English

@BoltonWriter You're not a very nice person are you @BoltonWriter ?
Earlier you were dismissive of @LeeMcClymont and the many teachers who take mental health leave
Now you have issue with my book and a 'side' of me?
Unfortunately, behaviours all too common in some corners of education
English

@HelpfulTeacher_ Wow, little wonder your book on teaching advice is self published. I hope your mentees don't see this side of you. Have a lovely day. 👍
English

@BoltonWriter You might benefit from some mentoring
You're aware 'learning styles' were debunked as well, yeah?
English

@missm_teachess I don't know if I've had 5 separate colds this year or if it's just been the same one periodically hiding since January.
English

@HelpfulTeacher_ I don't even know if you're joking now. And that worries me if you're really an ECT mentor.
English

@BoltonWriter Behaviour is communication? Really?
Really?
English

@L_E_Bendon @BoltonWriter Nowadays, anyone who punches a letter on a keyboard calls themselves a writer & instant publishing turns them into an author. There are more mediocre books than good ones & some would be good if the writer invested the time & effort & worked on the book before publishing.
English

@HelpfulTeacher_ Why do you assume that the child who needs most support is simply choosing to disrupt your lesson? Behaviour is communication - dig a little deeper to see what they're communicating. Difficult home life? Abuse? Learning difficulty?
English

@BoltonWriter I'm troubled that you think a student who's brought the wrong attitude to their learning deserves your support 'most', as opposed to a student who's doing all the right things
This is how we end up with silent majorities of disadvantaged students. Expect the best and champion
