If you look at the history of the place I was born, you’ll find a nation once colonized and stripped of its sovereignty. I grew up as a citizen of the very country that took ours away—a country that exploited us. That colonial chapter ended thanks to the sacrifices of independence fighters and the intervention of the United States. But the end of colonization didn’t bring peace. It gave way to a violent clash between communism and democracy, a battle so fierce that the country was ultimately divided in two. I was born in the democratic half. And now, I have to ask: how much do you really know about the history of democracy? Historically speaking, democracy—true democracy—has only existed for about 200 years. In the grand timeline of the Earth, that’s not even the blink of an eye. So, can we genuinely claim to defend democracy if we don’t understand its fragile origins? Today, in Canada, parties like the Liberals, NDP, and Greens parade around in the clothing of democracy. But underneath that shell, what we see is something far more troubling. The real threat lies not just in the politicians—but in their supporters, who often speak of democracy yet fail to recognize its erosion. When I examine their words, actions, policies, and regulations, what I see resembles totalitarianism more than democracy. It’s ideological programming, not political discourse. Many supporters of these parties don’t stand for democratic principles—they simply follow their party blindly. It’s not loyalty to freedom. It’s obedience. Like a mindless zombie horde wrapped in the language of virtue. This is not a liberal democracy anymore. What we’re witnessing is left-wing authoritarianism masked as progress. That’s the harsh truth behind today’s Canadian government and its allies. So I say: open your eyes. Use both ears. And above all, think critically. Because the democracy you think you’re defending may already be gone.

@ctvvancouver Eby’s cozying up to CCP with a “stable jurisdiction” sales pitch ignores Beijing’s forced tech transfers, IP theft, and wolf-warrior coercion that crushed Aussie exports when they dared question. Real liberal democracy diversifies away from authoritarian regimes, not begs for their cash amid US tariff threats. This reeks of desperate collectivist dependence on a dictatorship that jails critics and rigs markets. Wake up, true stability comes from free markets and rule of law, not kowtowing.

@marissenmark Senakw’s Phase 1 (3 towers, 1,409 rentals) hits move-ins summer 2026 on Squamish reserve land, zero city zoning, no parking mandates, no CACs/DCCs. This Indigenous property rights flex delivers massive supply fast, crushing affordability barriers without endless bureaucracy. Your cheerleading hides how equal rules for all developers would unleash way more housing everywhere. Stop romanticizing exemptions; real liberal democracy means uniform freedom to build, not special carve-outs.

Vancouver is actually lucky that local First Nations are able to use their own rules to provide this much-needed housing that’s walking distance to downtown Vancouver. This is the kind of housing that reduces the necessity of owning a car, making life more affordable and convenient for the people living there. Over 50% of trips in Vancouver are already made by walking, transit or bicycle.
Jim McMurtry@JimMcMurtry01

The wealthy 1500-member Musqueam tribe, which claims all of Vancouver, is building 11 towers (some 56 stories) on an 11.7-acre waterfront site. This density breaks all the rules, but when you’re a court-supported racial oligarchy, you can do anything.

@JimMcMurtry01 It’s the Squamish Nation’s Senakw project on their reserve land, not Musqueam. These 11 towers add 6,000 new rentals with first move-ins this summer 2026. Owners develop freely without city rules because it’s their property. Property rights like this boost housing supply in liberal democracy. Your racial oligarchy smear is just fearmongering NIMBY nonsense ignoring the real affordability crisis.

@nenshi Alberta workers already have respect through real results not empty words. Over 85000 new jobs added recently unemployment fell to 6.4 percent and GDP growth leads Canada at 2.3 percent this year. Families keep more with low taxes. Your NDP collectivism delivers BC style record deficits over 10 billion dollars plus land claim chaos scaring away investors and killing opportunities. Real working people thrive on freedom and merit not bigger government mandates.

@raghu_venugopal Toronto Star crying about supervised injection sites losing funding? Ford government finally cutting the cord on failed harm-reduction experiments that keep addicts hooked while crime and overdoses skyrocket around them. Recent data shows sites attract dealers and violence, not recovery. In real liberal democracy, we invest in treatment and rehab that actually saves lives, not taxpayer-funded drug dens. Stop romanticizing addiction. End the enabling, push real recovery now!

@HMcPhersonNDP More NDP seats mean more deficits crushing our future - another $26 billion just piled on, with debt per person near $56k records. Housing is still a nightmare for young people while construction productivity dropped big time. Your clip with Rachel Gilmore, who used Charlie Kirk’s death to push her narrative, shows “deliver more” really means more division and big government control. Canada needs liberty and merit-based opportunity, not socialist promises that fail every time.

@CanadaRepPA Your thread’s one-sided condemnation of “settler terror” and Israeli forces ignores context: recent independent data shows many West Bank incidents follow Palestinian militant attacks first, with settler violence often reactive or amid ongoing threats. Framing only one side as coercive hides Hamas-linked militancy, pushes collectivist victim narratives, and erodes merit-based security accountability vital to genuine liberal democracy and feasible peace.

@Taleeb Quantum chess claim in your video is false. No advantage for engine branching. Experts confirm it’s not applicable. Latest breakthroughs: IBM’s quantum supercomputing blueprint and Google’s error correction advance real simulation progress via private competition. Gov hype pushes collectivist spending and control, undermining merit and markets essential to liberal democracy.

@MayorOliviaChow , your “No ICE in Toronto” motion is classic virtue signaling. ICE has no arrest power in Canada. They only coordinate serious crime cases from the consulate. Mentioning Minnesota changes nothing here. With the World Cup coming, you’re focused on symbolic stunts instead of practical security. Liberal democracy demands real rule of law, not pandering that prioritizes feelings over public safety and order.

@CTVVancouver Oh wow, Eby’s off to charm the CCP overlords, selling BC as this beacon of “stability” in chaotic times. Genius move! Province just got slapped with its FIFTH credit downgrade in four years, now Aa2 with negative outlook, thanks to $13B+ record deficits, ballooning debt, and zero plan to stop the bleeding. Land claims turning every project into a veto lottery, fentanyl still claiming lives left and right (even if slightly down from peak hell), yet sure, let’s beg Beijing for ag scraps while they lock up Uyghurs and flex on Taiwan. Peak clown-world diplomacy: export instability abroad, import cash from dictators. Because nothing screams “stable jurisdiction” like begging authoritarians to save your crumbling finances. 🙄

@Joanne_NL $16M in repayable loans to 5 NL firms for defence tech sounds nice, but CAF still short ~6K regular force personnel in late 2025, recruitment lags despite recent uptick, fighters delayed, subs undecided. Regional handouts won’t fix nationwide readiness collapse, it’s scattered optics over coherent strategy.

@Joanne_NL $230k taxpayer handout to push a 25-year-old novel/miniseries exhibit while NL’s fisheries collapse, inflation bites families, and infrastructure crumbles. This is classic Liberal cultural pork: virtue-signal “our story” with other people’s money instead of fixing real hardships outports face today. Token gesture, zero results.

@HedyFry Your “new trade agreements” are mostly weak MoUs that haven’t replaced a single lost auto job after tariffs hit. Canada’s auto output dropped sharply under this gov’t, with thousands laid off while you pivot to Chinese EVs instead of negotiating hard with our biggest partner. Poilievre pushes real worker retraining and sector revival; waiting for miracles and nostalgia-bashing is the true empty strategy from 11 years of failure. Real democracy demands accountability, not deflection.

A year after tariffs hit our auto sector during which our Gov't has been building new trade agreements & refocusing the industry for success, @pierrepoilievre suddenly woke up to the problem. His solution? Hope things get back to normal & wait for a miracle. Not having consulted with the industry nor the workers He has no plan for worker support & none to rebuild the sector.  Just wait & hope the capricious leader to the South will change his mind. As PM Carney says: " Nostalgia is not a strategy!"

@HedyFry SFU’s Cedar expansion is another big-government handout funneling taxpayer dollars into state-picked AI projects. Private firms like xAI raised $6B in 2025 alone through market merit, while Canada’s “sovereign” efforts lag with slower innovation and higher costs. Real leadership builds freedom for entrepreneurs, not bureaucratic control disguised as progress.

@HedyFry This $200M taxpayer lease for a Nova Scotia launch pad won’t give us space sovereignty. SpaceX privately launched 170 rockets in 2025, deployed its 10,000th satellite, and hit $800 billion valuation all through innovation and reuse. True independence comes from free markets and merit, not big government picking winners with our cash.

@MarkJCarney Another Build Canada Homes announcement for 1,200 shovel-ready affordable homes in New Brunswick. @MarkJCarney Another $10B investment announcement and pension fund deal with Australia. Yet recent data shows Canada’s productivity still lagging the US badly, with business investment weak and capital per worker shrinking for years. Pensions are workers’ money, not a government slush fund for international agreements. Liberal democracy succeeds through open markets and less political meddling in capital, not endless announcements masking the productivity crisis.
