I am deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Riley Browne and Bobby Nowak in a helicopter crash in Loughborough Inlet this morning. My thoughts are also with the injured survivor, and I am wishing them a full and speedy recovery.

Today in Kitimat, B.C., our government announced that five First Nations have taken a stake in LNG Canada Phase 2 - one of the first projects PM @MarkJCarney referred to the Major Projects Office.
 
This partnership reflects how our new approach is making major projects stronger, with First Nations as partners from proposal to reality.

As another busy week in Vancouver comes to a close, here’s what I got up to.

Today I visited the Centre culturel francophone de Vancouver, a recipient of Canada Summer Jobs funding. This program helps local organizations hire the extra support they need while giving young people valuable work experience and important skills — a win-win for our community.

The recent incidents targeting Muslim communities across the country are abhorrent, unacceptable, and deeply troubling. Islamophobia is a scourge that has no place in Canada and goes against our shared values.   We stand firmly with the Muslim communities affected.

Today, I launched the Canada Critical Minerals Accelerator — our new $2B fund to get critical minerals projects built faster. 

The Accelerator’s first move is an injection of $400m and a potential offtake in Teck's Trail Operations in B.C. 

Trail is expanding to produce more of the germanium, antimony and gallium Canada and the world needs for defence, manufacturing, and clean energy. 

This is smart public investment that will pay returns for Canadians. Let's get building. 🇨🇦
