pretty much every privacy coin is built on top of them. near is basically the infrastructure layer behind the entire privacy narrative this cycle. on top of that, near has been building on the AI side for about 4 years now, way before it became the hot topic so if you believe AI and privacy are the two strongest narratives right now, the chain sitting underneath both of them makes sense as a bet.

Matt Yglesias is a blogger. He is guy with a bachelor’s degree who posts his opinions about things on the internet. His standing is exactly the same as Roman Helmet Guy’s, which is: His writing is influential to the extent people find it persuasive. We no longer live in a world where some people are arbitrarily designated as the good and important opinion-havers, and those people become the columnists and are real thinkers and intellectuals, while everyone else is just the schmucks on the “letters to the editor” page. The walls of Old Twitter’s garden have been torn down. Vox has been sold for scrap to Rupert Murdoch’s second-favorite son. Anyone can put on a Roman helmet and build a platform now, and their opinions are just as good and can be just as influential as Matt Yglesias’s or Nick Kristof’s.
PoIiMath@politicalmath

Someone needs to explain to Matt Yglesias that this whole "lol, you're just a rando twitter anon" attitude is no longer viable I would explain it to him, but he blocked me years ago although he weirdly keeps screen capping my tweets for commentary

A friend in LA says people have started doing this SF ritual: if they lock their car, they assume a break-in is coming. Calling the cops is pointless. So they leave the doors unlocked, windows down, even the back hatch open as a signal to crooks there's nothing worth stealing. That is what "crime is down" looks like after reporting collapses. The official numbers "improve" because people stop bothering to even report, because they know nothing will happen, and the people are forced to reorganize their entire day-to-day lives around open, pervasive criminal impunity.
Zarathustra@zarathustra5150

“Crime is not down. Crime *reporting* is down.” Marc Andreessen & Joe Rogan on how the official crime rate doesn’t measure crime. It only measures the state’s willingness to record a crime. So it gets squeezed from both ends: 1) Victims stop calling to report a crime when they know nothing follows. 2) Police reclassify what does get reported into lesser charges that never reach the official crime stats. Residents are not fooled, read the “lived city experience” correctly and are forced to adjust their entire lives accordingly: where they go, when they leave, what they wear, what they lock, what they avoid, how much risk they absorb, etc. In DC the police just got caught blatantly cooking the books. More than a dozen officials are being fired after felonies were buried in lesser charges and kept out of the public count. Which raises the question: how many other cities is this happening in?

This chart explains why Poland, Italy and Spain can no longer reverse their demographic crisis with pro-family policies. It’s simply too late. Like it or not, smart immigration is the only solution to avoid an implosion of pension and healthcare systems, and real estate market.

🚨 THE RACIST TRAIL OF DEATH THEY HID FROM AMERICA: Black Supremacist “Kill All Whites” Massacre of 6 Innocent Hikers & Dog Walkers – 9-Year Media Blackout EXPOSED Six innocent White Americans — hikers, dog walkers, a bus rider, a woman in her tent — executed in cold blood along Kansas City’s Indian Creek Trail. Not random. Not “mental illness” alone. Fredrick Demond Scott, a Black man who had already vowed to “kill all white people,” hunted them down one by one between 2016 and 2017: John Palmer, 54 David Lenox, 67 Timothy Rice, 57 Michael Darby, 61 Karen Harmeyer, 64 Steven Gibbons, 57 Shot without warning. Bodies left like discarded trash. He was arrested in 2017. Nine years of endless “competency hearings.” Nine years of taxpayer-funded delays while families waited for justice. A judge finally ruled him fit in 2025. Trial? Fall 2026. Mainstream media? Barely a whisper. No primetime specials. No “systemic racism” panels. No FBI hate-crime task force. Because this massacre doesn’t fit the sacred narrative. When the shooter’s skin color and the victims’ skin color reverse the approved script, the story simply vanishes. This isn’t journalism. This is narrative enforcement — the quiet erasure of inconvenient victims. Every life lost to racial hatred deserves the same fury. Every family deserves the same spotlight. The selective outrage isn’t compassion. It’s complicity. America, wake up. Truth doesn’t have a preferred race. #IndianCreekMassacre #MediaBlackout #HateCrimeHypocrisy #SelectiveOutrage #NarrativeCollapse #ForgottenVictims #EqualJusticeNow

@contramordor @RichardHanania You are just making shit up. The US is a settler nation founded on the principle of moving their and trying hard. If you want to limit population we should deport anyone whose family has been poor for 3 generations. Not block immigrants who want to work hard

I've noticed at least 80% of the X accounts aggressively supporting today's USCIS policy memo are anonymous accounts. I suspect in the coming years, we'll learn much of these were propaganda bot farms manufacturing support.

CATO posts stuff that they believe supports their argument but winds up being incredibly red pilling. I had no idea the vast majority of “legal immigration” came from adjusting status. So basically fake asylum claims, tourist overstays, H1Bs, etc…. I, like most people, assumed most legal immigrants came the old fashioned way represented by the purple line.
David J. Bier@David_J_Bier

Here is legal immigration. DHS is saying that it was an abuse of a "loophole" in the law that allowed all the people in the orange to receive permanent residence. It's most legal immigrants since 1980.

@BooneW @Nemtastic1 @Alt_Azn @realJeremyCarl I agree. I think they should have Family Visitation Visas so family could stay longer than 90 days but not permanent. My wife took 4 or 5 months to heal after our first baby was born and it would have been nice to be able to bring mother or sister to help.
