Did you also raise the campaign of terror being waged by Gvir’s militia on defenceless Palestinian families in the South Hebron Hills and across the West Bank or is it just the treatment of Europeans that provokes this level of concern in His Majesty’s government, @HFalconerMP ?
Hamish Falconer MP@HFalconerMP

Today we summoned the Israeli Charge d’Affaires over the appalling video posted by Israeli Minister Ben-Gvir and to express our concerns over the treatment of the flotilla activists. Our staff in the region are working to help British nationals get home.

“If it doesn’t stop then we don’t feel that this will be the last either.” Ben Kurzer, Rabbi at Golders Green Synagogue, says he wants to see more action taken by both the police and the government against pro-Palestine marches in light of recent antisemitic attacks.

@DanCardenMP @LabourCND There is so much wrong with this but the worst two things are first, that we KNOW FOR A FACT that he misrepresented the vetting advice in his evidence. And second that your logic implies that we should STILL not know this! He took all of us for mugs not just Starmer.

It’s clear Olly Robbins was put in an impossible position, followed FCDO processes in place to deliver the wishes of Number 10 and then last week had the goalposts moved. Why he was sacked and what alternative course of action he could’ve taken still needs answering.

I feel like I disagree with a lot of comrades, but it seems completely implausible to me that Starmer DID know about this and thought he could brazen it out. If he was going to resign, should be over political judgement over what was in public domain re Epstein.

@SaulStaniforth But they are lying! Just cos they are in a union does not make them any less privileged or their demands any more unreasonable. Would you support a CEO strike if they unionised? It is a totally absurd position. Zero solidarity for the 1% in waiting!

@gaz_manley @JAMESNICHOkqpc @mtpennycook There is still no net loss of rented properties, even if that were true. And there is nothing that would discourage a decent landlord (although that is obviously a contradiction in terms) from selling anyway!

@Boring1111111 @JAMESNICHOkqpc @mtpennycook No, it’s the small landlords selling up, the ones who own 1 extra property, who care about who lives there and kept rents lower. They then sell to the landlords who own multiple properties, who don’t give a shit.

Hatzola, set up by the local Jewish community, provides life-saving care to people of all faiths and none. It is appalling that this valued, volunteer-run ambulance service has been targeted. We must oppose hatred, and build a society where everyone can live in safety & peace.

@cashandcarrots @LukeTryl If people want to spend that much on defence, just increase taxes! War bonds would decrease cost of borrowing, but it is still (extra) borrowing. I just don't get the "this is necessary, existential even, but I won't pay 1% more of my salary in tax" argument.

Given suggestions the Government should go further in subsidising bills again because of the conflict in Iran we wanted to look at what sort of govt interventions/policies were/weren't affordable. 50% think govt could subsidise bills to stop the impact of the war, 38% disagree

@LukeTryl The "double defence spending to 5% of GDP target" is very misleading, as we *already* spend the 1.5% on defence-related stuff, more or less. The ask is to increase core defence spending to 3.5%, which is much more affordable, if still wrong IMO!

Party splits are interesting Labour voters are most likely to think Govt could subsidise bills and only group where a majority think 5% defence spending is affordable Majority of Greens back UBI as affordable & that the govt could forgive loans/bail out struggling universities. *(People sometimes ask how the all can be higher than the party votes, it's because lots of non-voters say don't know)
