Člověk musí stejně ocenit jak dobře je fotbal vymyšlený u knockout zápasů. Nejprve dlouhý zápas, pak heroické prodloužení, ve kterém se ale pořád hraje vlastně stejně. Poté (někdy hned po 90. min.) penalty - skvělá disciplína o mentální síle ale stále trénovatelná, která přitom maže technické rozdíly. Vypadá to jako samozřejmost, ale srovnejte to třeba s hokejem na OH. Při remíze přijde nesmysl v podobě náhlé smrti, na kterou se nedá reagovat a která úplně mění disciplínu snížením počtu hráčů, přičemž zvýhodňuje individuálně lepší týmy. Jsem fakt rád, že je v tomhle fotbal jiný a otevřenější tomu psát podobné příběhy jako ten náš z posledních dnů. Foto: iDnes

Massive disrespect to South Korea and to smaller extent also an underestimation of South Africa. I'd go by @TheAthleticFC's ranking that has the group tiered more like 1-2, 3-4; not like 1, 2-3, 4 here. I guess I'll have to go full @Sandal4Goalpost and preview all our opponents.

Biggest win in 20 years. Koubek adopted a simple strategy. Accept that your opponent is 2 levels better and just do not let them play, fight for every ball while taking chances on set pieces...We out-fought Ireland where Ireland was actually a more footballing side and then applied the same medicine to a superb Danish sides that probably thought they were going to breeze into the World Cup. Obviously Professor Krejci was the best player (only a needless foul leading to 1st goal is his blemish) but I must point out Coufal today, He was back to his old hungry, making a statement kind of Coufal rather than a timid uncertain Coufal that we lately saw out of him in CZ uniform. Big props to him today
