@EducationalPsy2@Headteacherchat Nope I don't get paid to work 24 hours a day for a week and not see my own children. I do it because I want to give my class an amazing experience. A thank you and a smile would (and does) go a long way.

Has anyone noticed a change in parental attitudes?
Not long ago, parents appreciated our extra effort. This year feels different.
In Year 6, we’ve prepared for SATs, organised trips, and more, but no thanks. After a week away with their kids, parents collected them without a word or smile. It's disheartening.
Is anyone else seeing this, or is it just us?
@Headteacherchat I'm starting my first Headship in September and have system access (not building yet). The Trust are definitely as keen as I am to get settled in and start getting to know people and systems.

I'm starting as a new Head in September, but I've been told I won't be given keys or system access until the 1st. Is this standard practice? I was hoping to get in over the summer to prepare and settle in. It's starting to cause a bit of stress—anyone else experienced this?
@stammer_teacher Completely agree. I can't stand it when people insist they are right, aggressively. Context and each, individual circumstance is important.
@Boshmeister Not seen anything horrible. What we have seen are genuine concerns from experienced educators which have not been acknowledged or responded to professionally. That’s not a good look when we have a recruitment/retention issues and all can see for themselves the poor replies.
Apparently children (YES, they are children) studying (or was it revising?) at school until 8.30pm the night before an exam is perfectly normal.
Anyone agree?
@Headteacherchat In contrast I could flip this & ask the same question in reverse for several schools where I am supporting families. Generally the biggest issue turns out to be the lack of open honest communication and taking ownership when things don’t go as expected (from either side) 1/2

Anyone else struggling with anxiety from dealing with unreasonable, confrontational, or aggressive parents? I love my job, but it’s heartbreaking how exhausting it can be. Policies help, but the emotional toll is relentless.
Neonatologist Richard Taylor describes how a doctor killed one of the babies Lucy Letby is accused of killing by lacerating its liver without realising what he'd done.
How is this not a blatant establishment coverup? They knew the doctor, not Letby, killed the baby, right?
Thinking of #LucyLetby at Christmas. While the poor innocent woman is spending another Christmas in prison for crimes she didn’t commit, the consultants & expert witnesses who lied about her are free to enjoy Christmas & the rest of their lives. It’s so wrong 😔
I will NEVER believe this was a real child being manhandled by Meghan Markle
The newborn didn’t cry, eat, get changed or move in 2 hours
Unless the “child” was heavily sedated.. this was a doll
What do you think?
When I was an NQT I hated hearing people tell me “it will take you a few years to fully get there”
They were right. I wouldn’t say I’m “there” there’s always more to do but reflecting on my teaching practice of late, I have to admit I’m a badass. 🤣
I can’t believe Kate had pre-cancerous cells
And she made the world believe she had cancer
I can’t believe I’m going to say this, bc I never wanted it to be true, but I fully believe that she used her “condition” to deflect from the fact that she was outed as 1/2 royal racists and used fake cancer to garner worldwide sympathy
I went to see An Inspector Calls with middle dragon today at the Curve theatre as she is studying it for her GCSE. I’ve never read it & it was outstanding! Had goosebumps throughout. She may think she doesn’t know anything but I watched her saying the speeches under her breath.
